Miss Dorris Compton, Honored Queen of the Bethel, pre sided at the table, where pep songs ind toasts to parents were the special features of entertainment, other Daughters participating being Miss Margaret Stewart, Miss Marion Hess and Miss Gretchen Clinton. During the regular meeting upstairs later, under the librarian's report, “Tri butes to Parents" were given by Miss Elizabeth Varney, Miss Margaret Purvance, Miss Marilyn Compton and Miss Donna Dean Bosserman. A very entertaining comedy skit, en titled, “Abie and Cutie”—A. B. A Q. T,—was put on by Miss Zelma Bosserman, Miss Levelle Walstrom, Miss Mary Lou Nosier, Miss Dorothy Glaisyer and Miss Georgianna John- on. Concluding the evening was the 'xautiful parasol drill, in which those aking part wore formal evening jowns. Much of the success of the pretty affair was attributed to the various committee chairmen who were: dinner, Dorothy Glaisyer; dec orations, Margaret Stewart; pro gram, Georgianna Johnson Mrs. Frank Leslie and Mrs. Mary McKeown gave a delightful surprise shower party at the home of Mrs Leslie last Friday evening, honoring Miss Mary K. Loomis, popular junior high teacher, whose marriage to Mr. Lynn Agee, of Toledo, will occur June 14th in Toledo, where they ex pect to make their home. Miss Loomis has made many friends in her brief stay in Coquille, she having taught just one year here. Having been lured away for an hour or two that evening from the Leslie home where she lives, she found upon her return a large company of friends awaiting her arrival and she was pre sented with a large basket of gifts by Barbara-Leslie and La Velle Dale, while Mrs. J. P. Beyers sang “I Love You Truly.” The shower was a ver itable deluge of lovely and practical articles. Assisting the hostesse in the serving the refreshments were Mrs. A. L. Beck and Mrs. Martha Mulkey, while the Misses Marion Hess and Margaret Smith assisted in receiving the guests, who were: Mesdames P. W. Lane, Clarence Osika, Henry Hartley, J. P. Beyers, J. W. Santee, Marie Stewart, A. L. Beck, Edith Walton, Rex Brown, Inez Chase, Keith Leslie, Wm. Cand- lin, Martha Mulkey, J. E. Axtell, M? E. Hess, D. D. Dale, Orvin Gant,*E. A. Walker, A. O. Walker, Sadie Jayes, Jas. Richmond, S. M. Nosier, H. *W. Pierce, J. L. Smith, Orville Newton, Misses Esther Stalh, Kathleen Mc Clintock, Jean Hill, Phyllis Hall, Averill Stewart, Dean Harding, Alfa Bang, Letta Wallace, Helen Stan brough, Vesta Miley, Grace Elling- sen, Hazel Adams, Margaret Roche, Madeline McKeown, Norene Mc Keown, Marjorie Knight, Jean Young and Bess Maury. The Thursday duplicate contract group met with Mrs. J. A. Lamb this week. Enjoying the desesrt lunch and games were Mesdames George Ulett, R. L. Stewart, F. L. Greenough, W. S. Sickels, L. H. Hazard, Geo H. Chaney and Hal Pierce, the latter substituting for Mrs. F. S. Emery. Raymond Wilder, accompanied by Mrs Hawkins; piano solo, “Selected Melodies from Bo hemian Girl,” by Inez Rover; solos, “Absent," Metcalf, and “In the Lux embourg Gardena,” Manning, by Mrs. Geo.
