»AG« rtN “Coast Highway Impassable!” To Remain in the Islands J. J. Stanley, who returned with Mrs. Stanley and their daughter and huaband, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen, yes terday from their two weeks’ Califor nia trip, was the most "bumed-up” man we have seen in some time. And he had been that way since the first night of their trip, when they stopped at the Eureka Inn. While there Mrs. Stanley overheard the hotel peo ple advise tourists that the Coast Highway was impassable and by all means to take the Redwood Highway across to Grants Pass from Crescent City. It has been thought that that kind of dirty work in northern Cali fornia had ceased, but evidently it has not. The Stanley party had a very en- joayble trip, staying four days in San Francisco, four in Los Angeles, and spending one day in Yosemite Park, where Mr. Stanley states he saw “grander” scenery than he had seen anywhere else in the United States. He was quite enthusiastic over the splendor of the park’s natural attrac tions. Z? _______________ Maurice Williams, who formerly resided in Coquille, has written his aunt, Mrs. J. A.
