The Young People's Christian League held its regular meeting last Sunday evening, October « An elec tion of officers was held with the following results: president, Phill Jensen; vice president, Dale Foord; secretary-treasurer, Helen Johnson; | advisers, Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Benham and Mrs. Harrah; pianist. Miss Wood- J ward. New literature for the next! quarter has been ordered and.a mem- I bership drive is to be started to en large the organization. Bette Yeo man was appointed leader for next] Sunday evening, Frank Davis was the only new member taken into the league at this meeting. The Fairview-North Fork Grange, No. 739, will hold its regular meeting Saturday evening, October 12. At this meeting a group of new members will be initiated in the first and sec ond degree work. Rev. G. A. Gray, of Coquille, held services following Sunday school at the Fairview church house last Sun day. The 'Y. P. C. L. was instrumen tal in securing Mr. Gray for every first and third Sunday. Mr. Gray has l>een calling on valley residents this week in order to interest them in these services. It is hoped that many folks will take advantage of the op portunity to hear him talk whenever it is possible. Harold Norris, son of Mrs. Hazel Benham of this community, returned Tuesday evening from Portland where he visited as a member of the stock judging team of the Coquille chapter of the FFA Harold is a sophomore in high school this year and an out standing Ag boy. Several of the company trucks be-' longing to the Ray brothers, have been hauling the machinery out of the woods this week. The burning of, the logged off land will start soon from all reports. L The Women’s club met on Wednes day of this week with Mrs. Wm. Judd in charge. The ladies all gathered at the community hall and started a ' new quilt.
