Beautiful Izrst W.-dnesday afternoon th« ladies of the Pioneer Missionary So clety felicitated Mr«. W. M. Cunning with a hand cerchief shower in ths church parlors on the eve of her de parture to a new location. Mrs. Cun ning received a deluge of lovely handkerchiefs suspended from an un furled umbrella, while the audience sang “Showers of Blessings.” She was also presented with a friendship book whose dainty hand-painted pages'were inscribed with the auto graphs of each one present. Mrs Cunning feelingly responded, saying the occasion would always pleasantly linger in tier memory. Punch and cookies were served and the guests departed each expresing regret at her leaving and wishing Godspeed to he. new home in the east. S. enjoyed a most pleasant evening on Friday of last week, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Vin ton, C. E. Niles, Mrs. Bertha Smith, Miss Edna Robison and Mrs. Vinton romposing the committee in charge. Cards and sewing furnished enter- ainment tor the evening, with re freshments following. Tay- or and Mrs. A. R. Dimick acting hostesses. A cordial invitation is ex vended to Coquille ladies, if interest 'd, to attend these sessions. V. Glaisyer. 1 Two"interesting papers were read, one on' Current Events by Mrs. Jos. Sayre, and one by Mrs. Geo. W. Orval Baker, of Ash, Oregon. On Wednesday Mrs. Nellie Billings, of Ai ago, was operated on for goitre and Miss Stafie Zulawinsk, of Mc- Minniville, submitted to a major op eration. Dismissals from the hospital in cluded Muriel Davis, Mary Graham and Chester Davis. Mrs. M. O. Hawkins presented a number of her music pupils in a class recital at her home Thursday eve ning. A very enjoyable evening was spent, with light refreshments served by the hostess later. Mrs. Hawkins was the recipient of a beautiful .bou quet from her pupils, among whom are listed the following: Geraldine Ensele, Eloise Wilson.
