NO. 12. <: - B ]K if. ■ ' -■ County Court Asks Granges, Clubs and Individuals for Their Opinions The county ___ court this week ___tee sent letters, a copy of which appears below, to granges, chambers of com merce and other civic bodies The members of the court will also ap preciate hearing from individuals as to his or her views on the proposal to fund $350,000 worth of road warrants with bonds, bearing five per cent in terest or less. The court does not wish to go to the expense of a special election if the sentiment of the votais is opposed to the refunding plan. But there should be an almost unanimous vote in favor of the refunding for it will save the county money the first year, and thousands more during the succeeding years. Following is the court's letter: Coquille, Oregon, April 3, 1935. It is the intention of the County Court to fund approximately $350,000 of road warrants by issuing bonds in lieu thereof at a rate of interest not to exceed 5 per cent, said bonds to be retired from a fund derived from un collected taxes. At a recent session of the legisla ture the County Court had two acts passed, one for the funding of gen eral fund warrants and the other for funding general road warrants. To tal amount of uncollected taxes In these funds are in the neighborhood of $980,000 and the outstanding war rants against those two funds, ap proximate $800.000. It can be seen thet there are ample uncollected taxes to take care of these bonds if issued It is the intention of the County Court to call an election for the pur pose of voting on < funding ol county road warrants, for the reason that these warrants are not as desirable as a general fund warrant for the payment of taxes, Y ■ COQUILLE, COOS COUNTY, ORBGON, FRIDAY. APRIL S, IMS. Widening Bridge Approach A state highway crew started last Friday remodelling the approaches to the Coast Highway bridge across the CoquiUe river here. The driveway at the Bandon end of the bridge is to be widened from 20 to 24 feet and the extension being on the inside of the curve it will make the approach safer, although there was no danger if careful driving rules were fol lowed. Nor is the pedestrian forgotten in the remodelling. A four-foot walk, with railing separating the walk from the driveway, ia to be built* on either side of the bridge and approaches. On the bridge proper the Walk wUl be outside the steel.
