B. MacDonald will have charge of the morning service March 31. Mf. and Mrs. Nile Miller and daughter, Gladys, attended the all-day fellowship meeting at the Church of Christ in Coquille Saturday. They were astonished when at the close of the services a surprise shower was tendered to them. Mr. Miller has been very ill and the gifts were in thankfulness for his recovery. Such an expression of friendship was appreciated by Mr. and Mrs. TRAIN CALIFORNIA COMPANY ■ - the home of Mrs. Clarence Schroeder to quilt on Wednesday. A potluck dinner was enjoyed at noon. Keitner He left on Sunday to resume his studies at Oregon State College in Corvallis. Mi* and Mrs. John Carl and son, Melden. returned to their home Sun day evening from Tillamook where they went on Friday to attend the wedding of Kenneth Carl and Miss Delores Green of that city. Melden acted as best man for his brother. The ceremony was held tn the Epis copal Church of that city at eight o’clock Friday evening. Miss Green, who was given in marriage by her father, 8. D. Green, wore a blue silk crepe with matching turban and was attended by her sister, Betty Green, who was attired in pale pink crepe with matching turban. After the ceremony the wedding guests and party were entertained at a reception at the home of the bride's parents. The young couple drove to Portland for a short wedding journey, return ing to Tillamook Tuesday evening. The groom, Kenneth Carl, eldest son of Mr and Mrs John Carl, was rear 'd near Arago and is a graduate of \rago high school and Oregon State College. He has been employed in the Tillamook county agent's office . or more than a year and expects to make his home in that county. His wife was raised in Tillamook. Mr and Mrs. Carl visited with Mr. □nd Mrs. Leo Hearing and Mrs. Les ter Bennett, who were former resi dents of Arago, and who sent greet ings to their old neighbors. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schroeder celebrated their thirty-first wedding anniversary with a dinner at their home Sunday. The guests were Mr. □nd Mrs. Nile Miller and daughter, Gladys, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hanly and son, Billy, of Parkersburg. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burbank, of Coquille, Mrs Harriet Burbank. Miss Lois Schroeder, of Marshfield. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Watkins and daughters. Mary, Jean and Anne, Mrs. Emily Hickam and son, Kent, Price Schroe der. and-Tom Donica. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rackleff and children, Maxine and Ellis, spent Sunday afternoon visiting the Dick Sumerlin family at Lee. John Henry Schroeder is able to be ta school again after a severe attack of tonsilitis. Four new pupils were added to the Arago school last when the Ray Coquille, Oregon children transferred from Valley View. Two are in the sixth grade and two are in the primary. They are living on the Q. M. Paker place. The Arago high school body pre sented a three-act oomedy entitled, “Between the Acta,” Friday evening, March 22. with a cast rompoeed Uj underclassmen, directed by Mias Eleanor Cort hell. It was witnessed I by an enthusiastic audience. i Ellis Rackleff played the nervous play wright, entangled in a web of his own wearing, in a very nervous manner as befitted the part; Clyde Lillie gave the part of the puzzled manservant, enmeshed in spite of himself, a feel ing portrayal, never coming out of character; George Pauli as the bung ling friend; Anita Milani as the abused and disowned wife, Cecil Pat rick as the dictatorial uncle, all gave good characterizations. The high light of the play was the performance of Marguerite Robison as the hysteri cal maid who dashed the presumed cup of poison to the floor. The au dience was as startled as the players with her realistic screams. Evelyn Doyle deserves credit for a fins per formance rendered on two days' no tice when she substituted as the high- toned aunt. Betty Knabe who had rehearsed the part became ill on Wednesday. Arago patrons have been treated to two fine plays this year and hope there may be another one before school is out. During the first intermission Iris Barklow gave a humorous reading entitled “The Rest Cure," and a girls trio, composed of Annie Deerdorff. Mary and Jean Watkins, sang "Santa Lucia." In the second Inter- lude Ray Parker sang. "Asleep in the Deep,” and a quartet, composed of Mrs. Wayne Woodward, Annie Dear- dorff, Mary and Jeen Watkins, sang. “In An Old Fashioned Garden.” Iris Barklow and Alvin Frederjberg gave a skit entitled “The Lover’s Errand.” Mrs. Oluf Aasen accompanied the musical numbers. After the play Mr. and Mrs. Ray Parker entertained the students of the high school and their friends at a two-course luncheon in honor of the casts in the two student plays. Mr and Mrs. Thomas Hanly and son, Billy, called on his uncle, Gus Schroeder, and family Sunday after noon. Mrs. John Devereaux, ot Bandon, visited her sister, Mrs. George Zin zerling, Saturday. Mias Ionella Curtis and Miss La- vaun Aasen spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Aasen. They all atended the potluck dinner at the Brethren Church in Myrtle Point on Sunday.
