    Duck Soup
A group of twenty-two CoquUlites,
who are attending the institutions of
higher learning at Eugene and Cor-
valles, held a get-together in Eugene
last Friday to honor Oran Rickard,
former Coquille High School instruc­
tor.
The affair was held at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Constance, friends
of Mr. Rickard. The evening was
spent in talking over old times, ex­
changing news and singing popular
songs.
Light refreshments were
served.
Those present were Oran Rickard;
from Oregon States College: Milton
Ashton, Oke Eckholm, Herman El-
lingsen,
Fred Fuhrman,
Frank
Schram, Deloss Shinn, and Earl
Shinn; from the University of Ore­
gon: Gray don Anderson. Anne Bar­
ton. Edell Bryant, Donald Farr,
for Santa
Gus Gailas took third place in the
final W. F. Jewett intersectional ex­
tempore speaking contest held De­
cember 8th at the University of Ore­
gon
His topic was “Socialism." Ous
is planning to take part in the peace
oratorical contest which will be held
at the university in January.
