Mrs. Vernon Bennett gave a birth day dinner Sunday in honor of her husband and daughter, Mrs. Milo Griffin, and son. Those enjoying the feast were Mrs. W. C. Griffin and Bud, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Griffin and son and Mike Minard. Mr. Griffin was sick and not able to attend. John Gearhardt returned home for a few days’ visit Wednesday. Thursday John and Hazel Gearhardt visited their mother, Mrs. J. N. Gear hardt, at Keizer hospital. She to re ported to be getting along nicely. Roaster Gas- The Neighbors of Woodcraft and their families enjoyed a potluck din ner Monday night, after which the Juvenile lodge held a meeting. Four new members were taken in as ju venile neighbors, Mavis and Lucy Keller, Robert Thompson and Harold Culbertson respectively. After the Juvenile meeting the reg ular Woodcraft meeting was held. On Dec. 17 will be a potluck dinner, Christmas tree and program for the kiddies. Election of officers was held at the first meeting of the month. Rebekah Lodge Notes Mamie Rebekah Lodge held an in teresting meeting Wednesday eve ning, at which time-the second read ing of the proposed revision of the by-laws was made. A very Interesting talk was given, by Mrs. Ella T. Morrison, of Clarks ton, Wash., a past president of the Rebekah Assembly of Washington. She was on her way home from To ronto, Canada, where she attended the Association of the Rebekah As semblies as a representative from her Jurisdiction. Mrs. M. A. Norton, of Marshfield was also a visitor. At the cloee of the meeting sand wiches and coffee were served. He visited relatives in several states. Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Garrett left Fri day morning for McMinnville, where they will visit their daughter, Mar garet, who is attending Linfield Col lege. Gardner, of Salem, opened a new bakery here Friday morning It will be known as the Myrtlewood Bakery. Mr. Gardner has been in the employ of the Cherry City Baking Company at Salem the past eleven years and comes to this city highly recommended. His brother, H. J. Gardner will be associated with him in the business. Mr and Mrs. Gard ner and two sons have leased the F. M. Kenyon house on Eighth street and moved in a week ago. : Otto Linquist and daughter, Alice Paulette, went to Portland Sunday for a week’s visit with relatives and friends. The Methodist Ladies Aid met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. L. A. La Flamme with Mrs. Les lie Dey assisting. Mrs. Floyd Sum mers had charge of the devotional hour and Mrs. M. R. Lee of the enter tainment for the afternoon. Miss Olive Howey, of Corvallis, spent the week-end at the home of Mrs. Cora Steele. The Christian churches of Coos county held a rally at the Christian church Saturday. A potluck dinner was served at noon and preaching services held in the afternoon. Mrs. E. J.
