The Bible class met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oluf Aasen Thursday evening with twelve present. The annual election of officers for the Ladies Aid will be held at the home of Mrs. J. L. Burtis Wednes day. ' ' J ' Mrs. W. Ray Parker and three sons arrived Saturday from Medford to join Mr. Parker. They moved into the teaei^rage Monday after spend ing the week end at Clarence Schroe der’s Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Hicks arrived from the hop fields near Salem Sat urday. Mrs. Hicks was quite ill as a result of the trip. Mrs. L. A. Myers was ill with the flu Friday and Saturday of last weekt Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Purser and children, Melba and Oscar, drove to Powers Saturday and visited Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Chapman and other friends, returning to their home Sunday eve ning.,They found Mrs. Ernest Wiebe quite ill with a cold and little Bev erly Wiebe entirely recovered from her recent attack of pneumonia. Joe Milan! had the misfortune to I lose one of his horses this week. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Starr, of Ban don. visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Patrick, of upper Fish trap Sunday. Mrs. Starr remained tor a few days while Mr. Starr re turned to Bandon Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Collier, Harry Collier and Glenda Stewart spent Saturday in North Bend visiting friends. Ira Royer came in from Powers Friday to spend a few days with his sister, Mrs. Alvin Billings. Orvus Miller returned to his home on Fishtrap Sunday evening with a nice buck deer killed near Eckley Others in the party which left last Wednesday were Grover McQuigg, Mr. Peart and Mr. Rivers, all of Co quille. The party brought in four bucks. There were five new enrollments in the school this week, Bobby Hicks and Gene Parker in the third grade, Joe Parker in the second and Marie Hicks in the fifth. Cecil Patrick started his junior year jn high school. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Robison and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Robison went into Klamath county to hunt mule deer, leaving Wednesday and returning with a nice buck Saturday evening. Mrs. Sarah Robison stayed at the Jess Robison place with the children during their absence. The freshman initiation party was held in the gymnasium Friday night as the close of a week’s hazing Gaines followed the stunts and re freshments of cider and cookies were served. Plans were made for the Booster night pro gram and also for the Pomona meet ing which will be held here Oct. 9. Hamburger, coffee and melons were served by the refreshment committee at the close of the meeting. Mr. and Mr». Teddy Miller, Mr and Mrs. Ben James, Robert and Dacie, returned late Thursday night from the hop yards, where they had spent about three weeks. Mrs. Melissa Brownson entertained with a birthday dinner Saturday eve ning, honoring her daughter-in-law. Mrs. Elmer Brownson. Moon family. Mrs. Roy Donev has been quite ill this week. Miss Mae Hatcher is planning an interesting Christian Endeavor meet ing for next Sunday evening, the subject of which is “Worth While Aims for the Year Ahead.” Mr. and Mrs. Albert Christensen attended the fellowship meeting held in Myrtle Point Monday. O. J. Osmondson, of Roseburg, vis ited at the Harvey home this week Miss Genevieve Carman, who has been visiting st the Crowley home the past week, returned to her home at Gaylord Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Krewson were callers In Myrtle Point and Coquille Friday. Rirs. Oscar Oberman, of Dora, spent a few days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elwin Alford Ted Abbott and Pete Alford finish ed falling white cedar on Elk creek Thursday. , < Mrs. Eva McClure and Mr. Kibby, of Marshfield, spent a few days at the Krewson home. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Robison and Mrs. Oscar Durrel were business callers in Myrtle Point and Coquille Wednesday. ' Mr. and Mrs. Julius Benham have moved from Dement Creek to Elk Creek and they will finish up the logging there. Mrs. Leslie Groat and son, Rogers, who have spent the past week at Summer, returned home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Linden Jenkins and Norleigh Alford, of Powers, arrived in the valley Monday to visit with relativaa. Mr. and Mrs. Hicks and son, Claud, I made a trip to Roseburg the last of the week. Mrs. Perley Crowley and sons, Ed win and Harry, made a trip to Marsh field to see James Crowley, who la in the Keizer hospital. They went on to Empire to visit Mrs. Fred Baker. Mr and Mrs. J. D. Laird received word that Mr Cordray, of Millington, was drowned.
