Last week the four losers entertained the four winners with a delightful picnic at the Norway Grove. At noon a delicious picnic luncheon was served and in the af ternoon bridge was enjoyed by the following: Mesdames Bort Folsom, Hal W. Fierce, Roy E. Boober, Dave Rackleff, M. R. Thomas, A. E. Brad ford, Claire M. Gray, R. L. Stewart and Mrs. Wm. Hicktag. of Marshfield High scores were held by Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Stewart. Wednesday afternoon the Episcopal Guild met at their Parish house foi their regular meeting. Mrs. George Lorenz was in charge of the meeting due to the absence of the president, Mrs. E. i,. Vinton. Those present were: Mesdames Muri Pettit, A. J. Sherwood, Wm. Mansell, Jas. Wat son, Neal Norcott,' R. H. Hazard, A. R. Dimick and George Lorenz. At ,the close of the meeting tea was served by Mrs. Pettit and Mrs. Lorenz. Wednesday afternoon Mrs Dave Rackleff entertained her Duplicate Contract Club at her home on Knowlton Heights. A one o’dock dessert luncheon was served to the following guests: Mesdames John L. Aasen, Louis Charneski, Bert Folsom, Hal W. Pierce, Ray Thomas, Claire M. Gray, and R. L. Stewart. Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Claire M. Gray entertained their Contract Club at their home on North. Coulter street. Those enjoying the evening of bridge were Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Hal Pierce, and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Rack leff. Mrs. Nels Osmundaon entertained the Just-a-mere Club Thursday with a delightful one o’clock luncheon at her home on East Second street. The luncheon table was beautifully dec orated with a dainty bouquet of as ters and the rooms with large bou quets of zinnias. This was the first time the club has been entertained since the summer vacation and places were provided for Meadames A. J. Sherwood, L. H. Hazard, F. L. Green- ough, R. A. Wernich, M. O. Hawkins, C. J. Fuhrman, E. E. Johnson, J. A. Lamb, W. S Sickels, H. A. Young, J. L. Smith, Bert Folsom, Hal W. Pierce, O. C. Sanford, G. R. Wickham and Mrs. Marvin Lyons of Marsh field. M. E. Ladiea AH Session Last week the Ladies Aid of the M. E. Church held their business meet ing at the home of Mrs. Ollie Hickok. Mrs. Irene Johnson was honored with a shower and received many gifts. Four new members were added to the roll and the lovely luncheon served by Mrs. Hickok was greatly enjoyed by the following members: Mesdames Belle Elwood, Emma Dunn, O. A. Gray, I. J. Bennett, Edith Ma- toon, Mabel Kunz, Leo J. Cary, Au gusta Nosier, Gertrude Shepherd. Louise Schroeder, Hattie Shelly, Sa die Jayes, Josephine Johnson, Irene Johnson, Lizzie Oden. Members ct the Business and Pro fessional Wo nen's Club held a short business met ing at the Coquille Ho tel Monday venlng. A musical se lection by Miss Inez Rover was the first number on the program. Mrs. Gould distril uted the year books containing the printed program of the year's w< rk. The usual business, including co nmittee reports, allow ing of bills, reading of communica tions, etc., fiUowed. A communica tion was read telling of the southern Oregon confe rence to be held at the Oregon Caves on Sunday, September 23. All B. P. W. members will be' welcome. Send In your reservations' now. The remainder of the meeting was occupied with plans for the an nual reception for teachers and local Ï business women. Next Monday night has been set as the date, the holir for members will be 8:00 o’clock and for guests, 8:30 p. m. Mrs. Elsie Cun-1 ningham and Mrs. Laura Kester we.e voted in as new members. Members present for the business netting were Mesdames Belle Gould, | Ula Leach, Georgia Richmond, Flora ’ Compton, Ida Owen, Annie Robinson, Cora Mackey, Marguerite Brodie, Salma Caughell, Jennie Price, and Misses Edna Robison, Harriet Gould, Geneva Agostino, Frances Oddy, Inez Rover, Laura McLeod, Helen Stan brough, Agnes Newton, Myrtle De- Long and Blythe Cousins. Miss Leta Wallace was a guest at the metetag. Knife Hospital Not Dismissals from the hospital the past week were Miss Frankie Edg- mon, on Sunday; Mr«. Verne Hansen, of McKinely, on Monday; and Mrs. X!- Hilton was dismissed Tuesday af ter undergoing a tonsilectomy. Saturday of last week Mrs. Don Pirtce, of Powers, underwent a ma jor operation. Monday Lois Auer, whose home is on the North Bend road, underwent an operation for the removal of ap pendix, an emergency case. Mrs. Pearl Welch entered the hos pital-Tuesday for treatment and the same day Miss Loretta Starrett, of Langlois, was admitted for treat ment Wednesday Clynard Holverstott, of Fairview, underwent- an aperation for the removal of appendix. Thursday Mrs. Jennie Bogan un derwent a major operation at the hands of Dr. V. L. Hamilton. The Cunningham district K. Y. N. Club held its regular meeting Thurs days, September 6th, with Mrs. J. B. Dawson as hostess. The afternoon was spent in sewing. Refreshments were served to the following mem bers, Mesdames Robt. Watson. C. E. McCurdy, Cyril McCurdy, Eart Graham, Guy Kelley, Elmer Neeley, Shirley Pettengill, J. J. Geaney, F. G. Wilson and visitors, Miss Dorothy Graham, Alfred Graham and Jimmie McCurdy.
