Mrs. P. A. Alford Is confined to her bed and is very seriously ill. Friday afternoon Mi» Bullock gave an Easter egg hunt at the school gym nasium, ¡Leeds Groves securing the most eggs. After the hunt everyone stayed and helped celebrate the sixth bithday of Burton Wilson. The time was enjoyabiy spent in playing games, after which refreshments of cake and fruit salad were served. Perley Crowley accompanied his daughter, Genevieve, to Portland Sat urday. He went to call on his brother, who is quite ill there. Raleigh Alford and Ted Abbott left Saturday for Rock Creek, where they will fall timber for Benham A Laird. Those from here to attend the regu lar meeting the McKinley Grange Saturday night were: Mr. and Mrs. Julius Benham, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lawhorn and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Krewson. Mr. snd Mrs. Albert Christensen, Christina Christensen, George Wood ruff, Cora Bullock and Howard Car penter attended Easter services at the Assembly Church of Myrtle Point. Mrs. Orin Kirk, John Kirk and Mrs. Margaret Kerns attended church in Myrtle Point Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Norleigh Alford, of Creswell, are in the valley, staying at the Albert Christensen home. Mrs. Leslie Groat, who is staying at 'Remote with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Holmes, helping with the hosuework, spent Sunday at her home, returning to Remote Sunday evening with Julius Benham who also works up there. ■i Six rural schools in Oregon have already been forced to close for the year and 44 others will close before the end of April unless federal aid is forthcoming, according to O. D. Adams, director of the Emergency Education Relief program. Applica tion was made some time ago for $225,000 in relief funds to enable fi nancially embarrassed school districts to carry on but so far no definite word has been received from the Emergency Relief Administration as to ita at titude toward Oregon’s appeal for aid.
