It was pointed out by Mr. Lindgren that all farmers who have produced on their farm an average of three lit ters of pigs for the past two years are eligible to receive a payment of *5 per head op 75 per cent of tihe average number produced during that period. The contract between the producer and the secretary of agriculture which ealls for these payments provides that the number of hogs produced during 1934 must not exceed 75 per cent of the average number produced for the past two yekns. It provides also that no increase may be made in certain Hher crops and basic commodities but joes not interfere with planting per manent pasture. It is not necessary to produce any hogs during 1934 to receive these payments. The plan for carrying out this work in the various counties makes neces sary, the organisation of a corn-hog production control association with di rectors from the various sections of the county. It provides also for the elec tion of community committees. These committees will be set up in Coos county after the sign-up has been completed. In discussing the organisation which will make it possible for inter ested producers to sign up for these benefit payments this schedule of meetings was announced. An explan ation will be made to interested sign ers of the necessary blanks and con tract which will be provided at that time. Those who sign will then be n- luested to complete Alling out the blanks and return with them to an other meeting which will be held a few days later where they will be completed. In Justice Stanley’s Court Charles Philpot, who lives in the Whiskey Rup vicinity, came to the Justice of the Peace here last Satur day and pleaded guilty to ‘he charge of discharging a gun upon the high way last October. The complaint was filed at the time, but the absence of the Justice in November and other mattera prevented it coming on for hearing any sooner. He was fined *25.00 and costa but was given until February 15 within which to pay. Last Saturday Chester Roth, who lives with his parents on Fat Elk, pleaded guilty to driving a truck without a license, and was fined five dollars and costa by Justice Stanley. About Christmas time a complaint* was filed in the City Recorder's court, of Coquille accusing Fred Levi Wilson >f the crime of driving-an automobile while under the influence of intoxicat-' ing liquor. Mr. Wilson demanded a jury trial, and, since there is no pro vision in the charter for a jury trial, the case was dismissed and a new qomplaint filed in the justice court, by mutual consent of the attorney«, Grant Corby representing the city and oeing specially appointed by the Dis trict Attorney to prosecute the case in justice court, and Dal King, oCMyrtle Point, defending the case. The case was tried before a jury here Wednes day and after a rathr lengthy session, the jury reported that they could not agree upon a verdict, so they were discharged. It was reported that the vote of the jury was evenly divided. The Jury consisted of Mesdames Clare Krantz, Kate Brady and Della Wilson and Messrs. Geo. T. Moulton, E. M Wilson and John Hickaim. It has not been decided yet when the case will be retried, if at all. Havana Widows” BIGGEST LAUGH STARS PICKED from “42D STREET,” “FOOTLIGHT PARADE” A ‘GOLD DIGGERS’ NOTE!
