SOCIAL NOTES ‘ Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harry invited a number of friends to their home on the Marshfield highway Sunday eve ning for a watch party. Gamea were played, wih lunch enjoyed at a late hour. Thoee taking part in the eve ning pleasure were Rev. and Mrs. Walter Fiscus, Mr. and Mra. Robert Wheeler, Mies Alda Sloan, Mias Ag» nes Newton, Joe Sutton, Alvin Noe- Ur and Henry George. Miss Martha Carrier entertained a group of school friends last Friday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Carrier, on Spurgeon hill. Doting the evening Hearts were played with refresh ments served afterwards to the fol lowing: Misses Margaret Purvance, Doris Compton, Levelle Walstrom, Barbara Oderkirk, Wanda Lee Hick- am, <nd Jeaae Barton, Powell Yar brough, Cecil Laws, Howard Hickam, ; Robert Waggoner and Jack Clinton. The Woman’s Guild of the St. James Episcopal Church held their annual election of officers at the meet ing Wednesday afternoon which was held at their Pariah house. Mrs. E. L. Vinton was elected president and four vice presidents were elected. Thia group of ladies will also act as a hostess committee. They are Mrs. Bert Folsom, Mrs. C. J. Fuhrman, Mrs. W. H. Mansell and Mrs. James Watson. The secretary elected was Mrs. Roy Neal and treasurer, Mrs. J. S. Barton. Tea was served by Mrs. - George Lorenz and Mrs. E. W. Lor enz to the following present: Mes- dames C. J. Fuhrman, James Watson, Bert Folsom, L. H. Hazard, W. H. Mansell, E. A. Woodyard, C. T. Bel- big, Geo. W. Taylor, Sr. and E. L. Vinton. tnined for dessert luncheon her con tract club members with several ad ditional guests present filling places of absent members. They were Mrs. J. E. Norton, Mrs. Ray Thomas, Mrs. A. E. Bradford, Mm. M. Earl Wilson, Mrs. R. E. Boober, Mrs. R. E. Car ruthers, of Astoria, and Mrs. John G um , of Marshfield. Members en joying the pleasant afternopn were Mesdames W. S. Sickels, R. L. Stew art, R. A. Wernich, F. L. Greenough, and Paul Van Scoy. Missionary Society Meeting The missionary women of the Church of Christ met at the church on Wednesday, January 3rd, for their regular monthly business meeting. The meeting was presided over by the president, Mrs. Harriet Schaer. Pray er was offered by Mr». Iva Farr, there were twelve members present. The missionary money left from 1933 was sent'to our old people’s home in Eu gene. As the Ladies’ Aid has been consolidated with the missionary so ciety the' treasurer, Mary Staninger, was authorized to draw out all funds left in the bank from last year and to buy clothing for little. Elsa Cook, of Corvallie Farm Home, with part of the money, the balance to go into the church treasury. The women will put on a missionary program on Wed nesday, January 17, at which time a silver tea will be given. Marriage Licenses C. of C. The SC men are making new roads on the upper North Fork and from McKinley in to the Tioga country, and the residents of those sections are asking that the camp attendants be allowed to spend part of the time repairing the county or market roads in the vicinity of those camps which have previously been improved but are being badly cut up. Those who want to know what the Chamber accomplishes should make it a point to attend those meetings on the first and third Wed- nesday evenings of each month, at 7:30.
