oMtnua FRIDAY, 01 PAM SOCIAL NOTES Mrs. Inez Chase talked to the Business and Professional 'Women on Monday, December 4th, at their reg- illar meeting on ‘The Great Emblems •f the World.” She told many inter esting facts about flags and other ¡mblems as symbols. A definition she .'ound of symbols and emblems told he whole story in a few words. It «as, “A symbol or an emblem ia a hing easily shown to a crowd and -■aaily grasped.” Muriel Dae delighted her listeners with the following selections on the •iolin: Spanish Dance, Rosary and A Serenade; these were ail arrange ments by Kreizler. She was aceom- oanied by Mrs. Maude Woodyard. This was followed by a club emblem lervice in which the following mem bers took part: Kathleen McClintock, Inez Rover, Frances Oddy, Muriie) Dae, Marguerite Brodie and Jennie Lindros. » After the program a business meet- ng was held at which the resignation >f Blythe Cousins as chairman of the •ublicity committee and second vice (resident was accepted. Marguerite Brodie and Myrtle De- Long recited perfectly the club col lect. The musical and arte committee, Inez Rover, chairman, who have charge of the next meeting, ask that each member donate one or two Christmas tree ornaments toward a collection for the club. Thia meeting night is to be dress-up occasion for those desiring to dress. A vote of those present was taken on the question of a new name for the “Independent Woman.” The two suggested titles were: "Woman’s Forum” and “Woman Today." The CoquHle club voted for “Woman To day.” The names of Garnet Gant, Muriel Dae and Frances Howell were voted upon and they were made members of the club. The Business and Professional Women’s Club has been asked to take charge of the entertainment for the McKinley OOC camp on January 6, 1994, and the following committee haa been appointed for that purpose: Leona Bryant and Ula Leach. The club also has charge of a meeting in Match at the same place and the fol lowing committee haa been appointed for that night: Viola Newton, Jean ette Pook, Garnet Gant, Frances Oddy and Jennie Lindros. The 'High School has asked the dub to entertain them at an assembly on January 12 and the committee ap pointed for that purpose was Kath leen MdClintoCk, Martha Mulkey, Florence Hill and Harriot Gould. Farr and Gus Gailas, were members of the combined chorus of the Oregon State College chorus, and the polyphonic RANGE FOR BALE—for either wood choir of the University of Oregon, or cool. Earl S. Johnson, 174 Bo. Which joined in a concert of Christ Coulter. It* mas music at the music auditorium of the university recently, under the direction of Professor Paul Petri, conductor. Approximately 200 stu dents participated in the event, among them several outstanding vo cal and instrumental soloists. Pro fessor Petri was assisted by Roy Bryson, associate conductor. Mr. Farr sang first bass and Mr. Gailas second bass. Mr. Farr is a sophomore, majoring in Business Administration, and Mr. Gailas a freshman specialising in Social Sciences.
