John Haberly, of Portland, arrievd Friday evening for a few weeks' visit with their sisters, Mrs. 0. H. Aaaen and Mrs. Clove Mc Allister. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Millar and children, Coleen and Maxine, of Port land, returned home Tuesday morn ing. They have spent the past two weeks visiting their parent», Mr. and Mr». Nile Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vetter. Sunday morning a group of about thirty member* motored to Langlois and visited the Sunday School there and enjoyed a basket dinner at Floras Creek at noon. Among those going were Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Carl, Mr. and Mn. O. H. Aasen, Mr. aad Mr*. Geo. Hampton, Mn». L. R. Hampton, Mra. John Haberly and children, Mr. and Mrs. Clove McAllister and children, Shelby and Mary Jean, Kenneth, Mai den and Wallace Carl, Adolph Hab erly, Mrs. C. E. Schroeder and chil dren Price and Loi», Beatrice and Bernice Green and Keith Kribbs. Frank Miller was over from Gar diner for the week end with his fam ily. Mrs. Glenn Collier and son, Lee, made a trip to Dillard Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Nile Miller and chil dren, Orvus and Gladys, atended the Christian Endeavor rally at Coquille Sunday. The Arago community was very much surprised Friday evening when they learned that Jaaper M. DeLong, popularly known as "Grandpa," had slipped one over on them and was quietly married at Coquille at noon to Mm. Julia Grow. Mr. DeLong had lived many years at Arago and was much loved by everyone. He was also th* only Civil war veteran in this vi cinity. , They will make their horn* in Ooquill*. Mr. and Mr*. Ernest Watkins and children, Mary Helen, Jean and Ann, Mn. Clave McAllister and children, Shelby and Mary Jean, returned Fri day from a week’s camping trip on upper-Halls creek. Keiffi Kribbs returned to his home in southern California Monday. Ho has spent th* past year at th* C. E. Schroeeder home and attended school ■nd will be greatly missed in the younger circle. Mr*. B. 8. Wallen, of Myrtle Point, and Mre. Geo. Smith, of Coquille, were dinner guests of * Mra. Geo. Weeks on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stauff, of Santa Monica, Calif., returned home Monday. They bed spent the past week here on business and visiting old friends and relatives. Mre. Naomi Robison returned to her home at Arago Sunday, after a ■reek’s illness at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Marie Poland, of Myrtle Point. Mr». W. H. Banka and son. William, returned to their horn* Friday after an extended visit at the home of Mrs. Banka’ parent», Mr. aad Mre. J. D. Barklaw. Mr. and Mra. T. D. Guerin, Mrs. Elia Guerin and Ray Guerin went to Eckley Thunslay for a few day»’ camping trip. Plan» are being made to build a cabin and barn on the George Guerin «state at Eckley to replace the one» recently destroyed by the forest fire». Miss Helen Defoe arrived home Thursday evening from a two weeks’ trip in California. Mr. and Mr». Everett Lafferty and ■on, Allen, went to Salem Friday and spent th* week-end with relatives. They returned Sunday. Mr. and Mra. Roy Garrett and daughter, Margaret, left Tuesday for a ten-day trip. They will visit rela tive» in Medford, eastern Oregon and Shasta City, California. Mr. and Mr». Mike Morrison and two sone, Ray and Frank, and June Baker and Katie Guerin left Wed nesday for a trip to Crater Lake, Oregon Caves and the Columbia River highway and Portland. They will re turn Sunday. Mrs. Mary Holt returned home Tuesday from Part Orford, where she visited her two sons, Grover and Car roll Tichenor, and families. Mr. and Mr*. Fred Lafferty left Tuesday for a few days’ trip to Klam ath Falls. Mr. and Mns. Hershal Bunch ar rived home Tuesday from • week’s visit at Forest Grove. Katie Guerin came with them after a week’s stay with her grandparents there. Mies Wilda 'Barker has returned to her home after a short visit in Gold Beach. Lyle Carver is in the Mast hospi tal, suffering from a broken shoulder, received when a falling limb from a burning tree struck him while he wm fighting fire in the Eckley coun try. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Carbon and two children and Miss Sylvia Carlson, of Glendale, Oregon, left the first of the week for Portland, after * few days’ visit at the T. G. Sumerlin home. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman left Sunday for Molalla, where they will make their home. Mns. E. O. Rapier returned to her home after a visit at the C. E. HuHng School will open in Myrtle Point on Monday,- September 5. Senior ‘High will open one day later, Sept. 6th. ’ W. A. Sawyer, Smith-Hughes in-, »tractor, and fifteen boys went to the Bennett Grove at Grevel Ford one night last -week and enjoyed camping out. A. Sawyer. Benham logging A large crowd attended the Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian Church at the home of Mrs. T. G. Sumerlin Wednes day afternoon. A short pleasing pro gram was enjoyed by those present, after which dainty refreshments were served. Cooper ar* re joicing over the arrival of a baby boy bom Wednesday, August 10th. Mre. J. H. McCloskey and Miss June Lester, of Norway, were shop ping in Myrtle Point Tuesday after noon. V. Button left Monday morning for his home at Battle Ground, Wash., after spending the week-end st the home of hie parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Button. Mr. Button will return the last of the week with his family who will make their home on a farm at Bridge. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Conner, of Sa lem, spent the week-end at the Will Lundy home. Mias Frances Gallatin, of Ashland, is visiting this week at the borne of her sister, Mrs. A. V. Sawyer. Anita Tedson, who has been in the Mast hospital for the past two weeks, was removed to her home at Norway Monday. Duck Shooters Fined Eldon Coleman, Stanley Nagle, of North Bend, and Ivan Chappell, of Bangor, were arrested Monday night for hunting ducks in the sand hills across from North Bend.
