Oiling Highway» in Coos
Program for Aug. 2 Concert
The «tote oiling crow which wont

completed an 18-mile sealing coat on
the Coast Highway from Brookings
north to Pistol river, and had also
sealed the macadam approaches at
either end of the Rogue river bridge.
Yesterday the crew gave a light
seal coat to the highway between Ten
Mile creek, north of the Bay, and the
Douglas county line, and have moved
back to the Roseburg highway where
there is an eight-mile sealing surface
to be given the road from Rock creek
to Camas valley.
All these jobs come under the head
of gang maintenance which the state
highway department has done with
its own crew.
Under the head of betterment come
the two oiling jobs south of Bandon,
which are part of a contract let by
the commission some time ago, and
which it is expected will be started
early next month. The first la for a
4.7 mile stretch from the Bandon city
limits south to China creek. There is
considerable crown to the highway
there and it is expected the road will
be built up about three inches on
either side, with a skim coat on top,
making the roadway more nearly flat.
The other section under contract
is for the flve-mile Denmark to Sixes
section.
These are all the state work con­
templated on southwestern Oregon
highways this year.
