Co. Warrant Payment on Taxes G. C. Caughell, of the tax collec tion department, is in receipt of a letter from Chas. V. Galloway, chair man of the State Tax Commission, in which it-b held that the county can receive its own warrants for tex pay ments only in the amounts of 6.5 mills for general road fund warrants. As a specific illustration that means that on a piece of property valued at 32,009, the taxpayers could use in the payment of his taxes thb spring 313 of county general fund warrants. In Coquille, with its 698 mill levy, it would moan that a taxpayer could pay about nine per cent in his taxes with general fund warrants. With genera! road fund warrants he could pay about 2 per cent of his total tax bill. * •• - Easter Egg Hunt Sunday Both Coast Highway and Rogue Met Here Monday Evening— River Bridge to Be Powers Joins Group— To Formally Opened Issue Publicity BRILLIANT AFFAIR Woman’s Club Card Party Fri day Evening Attended by .. 160—Clean >72 Ail Cooa county chambers of com The little town of Gardiner waa The Coquille Woman’s Club netted crowded last Sunday and the hotel merce were urged to have one or 372 from the card party given in the swamped, when 175 delegates to. the more representatives at the meeting hotel dining room last Friday even- tomorrow evening meeting of the Coast Highway Asso in Gold Beach ing, 190 tickets being sold, and there ciation deeeended on it that morning. when bridge dedication plans are to were 149 served at the tables with ice The southern end of the Oregon coast be discussed, by the Coos County cream, coffee and cake beside the was more largely represented than Chamber of Commerce which met in dozen ladies who waited on table. the northern, but there were delegates the hotel here Monday evening with It was the largest and one of the from Clatsop, Tillamook and Linn, seventeen delegates and member« moot enjoyable parties ever held in counties, headed by A.
