GREGG, builder and contract or, is 50 years of age, and was born in But ler, Tennessee, of American parentage. His father was a farmer and he has five broth ers and one sister. He attended the public schools in Tennessee and upon graduation was attracted by a friend’s report of the West which resulted in his arriving in Rose burg in 1902, where he stayed for six months. In 1903, he journeyed by horse back over the old Roseburg-Coos Bay Wagon Trail to Coos County, and arrived in Coquille with ten dollars in his pocket. For the first two years he operated a log ging camp and later opened a real estate of fice which he also disposed of to become a carpenter, which profession he has followed since. He has. been a resident of Coos County for twenty-eight years. Mr. Gregg is married and has one grown son. He is a Baptist and is af filiated with the Odd Fellows Lodge aad his favorite sport is hunting. Mr. Gregg figures the population of Coquille from five to ten years from now will be 5000, and suggests the Millage Tax as a suitable means of advertising Co quille. If Mr. Gregg had a re-start In business he would follow the same line of work and if he were financially independent he would build many fine homes for Coquille. He is planning on bigger and better homes for the future.
