brother and two sisters. He is married and has
one daughter who resides in Coquille. He and his
family are Methodists and his hobby and favorite sports afe fishing and
duck hunting. In the accompanying illustration he is shown with a kill of
geese near Klamath Falls. Mr. Langworthy has been an electrician all his
life and if he had a re-start, he would choose this line of business.
It is interesting to know that Mr. Langworthy played baseball one year
with Coquille when Billdad Howell and Nick Lorenz were on the team.
As a system of advertising to help Coquille, Mr. Langworthy sug
gests the Millage Tax. He figures the population of Coquille five years from
now will be 10,000.
Through unavoidable circumstances, Mr. Langworthy resides in North
Bend, but-HE IS PLANNING A HOME IN COQUILLE HEIGHTS FOR
THE FUTURE!

This being Business and Professional Wom
en’s Week, we devote and give this space to them.
Most of us are not acquainted with the activities
of the Club and a few of their accomplishments
are here mentioned:
Their club is young but it has a full grown am
bition, i. e., to build a $1000 scholarship loan fund.
They have not yet reached their goal but are well
past the half way mark and are busily circulating
what cash they have. Six girls have received
loans and nearly all have repaid the loan, are now
repaying it or are still in school. The money for
the fund is raised by two annual events, their
birthday dance in the fall and a spring festival.
Another ambition of theirs: Better co-oper
ation among local clubs is furthered by an annual
get-together dinner at which representatives of
MRS. LEONA BRYANT, Preaidcat
the various organizations are asked to contribute
suggestions for a better Coquille and incidentally a better Oregon. Two other
annual events are the employers’ dinner and the entertainment of the senior
class in high school.
While these are their main activities, they also contribute small sums to
local causes, a silver loving cup as prize in a school health campaign, books for
the children’s library, etc.
They arrange and print a yearly program which is placed in the hands
of all members. Each event is managed by one of the standing committees
and the first meeting in each month is chiefly business and the second is a
social affair.
Trade at home! ! ! We, the advertisers of this page know that you ladies
realize more than the average citizen of Coquille what that means to the
growth, prosperity, and future of our city. We must compliment you on the
size of your club and we w?L you a larger membership in return for your
good patronage of Coquille Merchants.
