The eight errors charged were not of a>erious nature. The three by Bill Stewart were over throws to first base. *-» Glendale nicked Endicott fdt six singles, but he would have secured a shut-out had not one of Stewart’s overthrows and a wild toss to Stew art by Woodyard permitted the vis itors to score one in the eighth with out the semblance of a hit. Two pretty double playa, one by each team, made the game enappier. Coquille was not threatening when Glendale pulled its double play, but the visitors might have scored in the ninth, following two singles. Bay Woodyard took Bates’ ground skim mer, throwing Wunch out at second by a toss to Stewart who relayed quickly to Tuma catching Bates at first - The Loggers wore trying for home runs Sunday. At the Lions Club meeting last Thursday night, at which the ball, players were guests, John Boss, for the Farmers A Merchant Bank, offered a prise of |6 for the first home team home run. Bill Stew art fell one base short in the first inning and had to bO'Wontent with a triple, but Art Pulford in the fourth, by a hard sprint circled the bases. The ball he hit struck third base, caromed on into if ft field, and Art slid in home just ahead of the relayed throw. He said it was the second home run he had ever hit. Homers were numerous in Coquille’s half of the eighth. After two were out Tuma hit one, Brundage singled and Cox came through with another four-fly swat Prior to that inning the local team had secured but five safeties off Conatser*s delivery and it was a tight game up to that point. Endicott also pitched a fine brand of ball, with seven strike-outs to his credit. Glendale i Page, 3 Tucker, m Conatser, p Bishop, 1 Harvey, r Chaney, 2 Schleigh, c Wunch, s Bates, 1 Martin, r A ! Only last Sunday, while in Curry jounty, I could hear the voice of a faithful dog rounding up a flock of sheep. Within a short time his barfi ng ceased and two men were seen vainly seeking to do the work of the faithful canine. Upon inquiry learned that the dog had thrown sudden fit and died. Poison bait—that’s the answer. A freak of Nature may be seen few miles below Arisons Inn, in Curry county. Upon a giant rock that can ae reached at low tide, a spring of cold, pure water bubbles forth. Here, also one may see the traces of early history. Giant chains, rusted and worn are fastened in the solid rock by huge .ituples, whose seating nnv< men drilled. An old rusted anchor lies nearby. The rotting structure of an >id btrilding lies upon the sands and .he rails from an ancient railway lie ibout. Yearn and years ago vessels noored at this rock and loaded tan bark. If that old rusted anchor and ;be wave-sprayed chains could talk, what wonderful tales one might bear it men and ships “that went down to the sea.” TAE ROPY MILK CAN BE AVOIDED Condition Due San Francisco New Orleans New York on your trip Gast at low summer fares B y rail and steamship Southern Pacific offers this fascinating jour ney to those who would like to dis cover for themselves the adventure and romance that has crowded the pages of many a famous author.
