nual May Day Ball given by the Wo

that the queen be selected from the
center class and her attendants from
the high school at large, The resudta
of the election were that Edna Robin
son, a prominent senior, win be
crowned Queen of the May at nine
o'clock May 2, at Graham’s Hall. She

Friday, April 6, elimination try
outs in preparation for the county
declamation contort were held before
the various elabsea. The winner« of
1 these preliminary contests then spoke
before the student body Monday,
April 9. Those participating in this
final try-out were: Phyllis Mc< <rfv.
Ednk Robison, Ross Brown, and Har
te Call. Coquille High School will be
represented at the county content by
Edna Robinson and Roas Brown. Miss
Robinson's declamation is “The Char-
la* Race” from Ben Hur, and M-
Browff will deliver “Spsrtacus to th*
Gladiators.** The county declamation
and oratorical contest will be held at
Myrtle Point April 20 at 8 o
