Pendleton Center for the Arts/ Contributed Photo Entries in the Community Thrift Shop Challenge are due July 28-30 Go! staff PENDLETON — Pendleton Center for the Arts and Heritage Station Museum are inviting everyone to stretch their artistic creativity with the Community Thrift Shop Challenge. “The American Poet Dorothy Parker described creativity as ‘a wild mind with a disciplined eye,’” said Roberta Lavadour, PCA director. “Artists who work with discarded or repurposed materi- als are known to have their eyes open much of the time, staying alert to items that strike them as beautiful, quizzical or intriguing.” PCA and the museum teamed up to “encourage those makers who work in a similar fashion to create new works of art,” Lava- dour said. The Community Thrift Shop Challenge kicked off Saturday, June 11, and will culminate in an exhibit in the front windows of the store, 138 SE Court Ave., Pendleton Center for the Arts/ Contributed Photo This mixed media piece by Lori Rohn is an example of what artists could create for the Community Thrift Store Challenge sponsored by the Pendleton Center for the Arts and Heritage Station Museum.
