MONDAYS
MORROW COUNTY — Music
in the Parks is in full swing in
North Morrow County. The sum-
mer concert series off ers free
music each Monday at 7 p.m.
— except the Fourth of July. The
venue alternates between the
marina parks in Irrigon, 430 NE
Eighth St., and Boardman, 1 NE
Marine Drive.
The upcoming show on June
27 in Irrigon features One Trick
Pony with Michael Trew. (In case
of inclement weather it will be
held at Stokes Landing Senior
Center, 150 Columbia Lane.)
Seattle-based musician Trew
has toured with various acts, in-
cluding The Graduates, a Simon
and Garfunkel tribute duo.
Attendees are encouraged
to bring blankets or lawn chairs,
and a picnic and beverages. For

Natalie Curtis” are available at the
Hermiston Public Library. The author
will give a talk at the library July 14,
6 p.m.
the inaugural Aspiring Youth Art-
ist Contest in March. This year’s
contest is open through Aug. 31.
Aspiring Eastern Oregon art-
ists ages 11-22 can submit de-
signs for an ACE iron-on patch.
The winning design will become
the year’s featured patch and
the artist will receive an award.
The iron-on patch will be sold in
the ACE Gift Gallery and online.
All proceeds from the patches
go to ACE’s Youth Scholarship
Fund, which provides reduced-
cost ACE classes and opportuni-
ties to engage in arts of all kinds.

CHIEF JOSEPH DAYS
RANCH RODEO SET
FOR JUNE 24-25
JOSEPH — The Chief Joseph
Days Ranch Rodeo, a non-PRCA
event that raises money for the
CJD scholarship fund, is set for
June 24 and 25 in Joseph.
The ranch rodeo trail ride and
dinner is Friday, June 24, start-
ing at 2:30 p.m. with the tradi-
tional trail ride to the top of the
East Moraine, followed by dinner
at the Thunder Room with live
and silent auctions, raffl es and
more. Dinner tickets are $17.
The ranch rodeo starts at
2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at
Harley Tucker Memorial Arena.
Tickets at the gate are $5 adults,
$3 for ages 5-10, and free for
ages 4 and younger.

COMMUNITY READ
HERMISTON — Free copies
of Jane Kirkpatrick’s 2021 novel,
“The Healing of Natalie Curtis,”
are available at the Hermiston
Public Library, 235 E. Gladys
Ave. In addition, electronic ac-
cess is available via the Library-
2Go app.
The historical fi ction publica-
tion, a 2022 Western Writers of
America Spur Award fi nalist, has
been selected as the Hermiston
library’s One Book, One Path
Community Read. People are
encouraged to read, discuss and
pass along the book. Kirkpatrick
will discuss her writing process
and read from the book July 14,
6 p.m. at the library.
