What’s Available NOW On
“Movie: Let the Right One In”
It’s a vampire young-love story, but this
2008 adaptation of Swedish author John
Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel is no “Twilight.” A
lonely boy named Oskar (Kare Hedebrant)
falls for a neighbor girl (Lina Leandersson)
who happens to be a vampire — handy for
keeping the bullies at bay but awkward in
the romance department. The film was re-
made in 2010 as “Let Me In.”
“Movie: Walk Hard: The Dewey
Cox Story”
Often a supporting player, the talented John
C. Reilly (“Chicago”) is front and center
in this amusing celebrity biography satire,
co-written and co-produced by Judd Ap-
atow (“Knocked Up”). His character is an
unlikely music legend who indulges in every
vice and cliché ever associated with that
lifestyle. Jenna Fischer (“The Office”), “Sat-
urday Night Live” alumnus Tim Meadows
and some actual music icons (notably, the
Temptations) are featured.
“Movie: Twilight”
Fans of Stephenie Meyer’s popular book
series eagerly awaited the first screen adap-
tation, and they showed up in such force,
a sequel got the go-ahead the day after this
movie opened. Director Catherine Hard-
wicke’s appropriately moody version casts
Kristen Stewart as heroine Bella, whose ad-
justment to a new high school encompasses
her attraction to the magnetic Edward
(Robert Pattinson) — a vampire, as she
soon learns.
“Candy”
Based on a true story, this crime drama
miniseries stars Jessica Biel as Candy Mont-
gomery, a 1980s Texas housewife who seem-
ingly had it all — husband, two kids, nice
house in the suburbs — but the pressure of
conformity drove her to murder her friend
from church with an axe. Timothy Simons,
Melanie Lynskey, Pablo Schreiber, and Raúl
Esparza also star. (ORIGINAL)
