posal to include designated lands
in the Oregon Wildfire Protection
System.
WHEN: 4 pm on May 3, 2022
WHERE: Durkee Community
Center, 28716 Old Hwy 30,
Durkee OR 97905
WHY: The Burnt River Range-
land Fire Protection Association
would like to expand their current
boundary to include an area
which currently has no fire protec-
tion services available for pri-
vately owned lands.
WHO: Interested members of the
public are invited to attend and
give oral or written testimony. Writ-
ten testimony can also be mailed
to PO Box 670, Prineville, OR
97754 or emailed to:
marvin.j.vetter@odf.oregon.gov.
All testimony must be received by

MORE INFO: Public comment is
sought on the proposal to: 1) Ex-
pand the Burnt River Rangeland
Fire Protection Association, which
is part of the Oregon Wildfire Pro-
tection System, and 2) develop
an agreement with the Burnt
River Rangeland Fire Protection
Association to provide fire protec-
tion to rangelands in portions of
southern Baker County that cur-
rently have no wildfire protection.
The Association operates in co-
operation with the Oregon Board
of Forestry.
Oregon Department of Forestry
(ODF) staff will provide back-
ground on the proposal and an-
swer questions. A report of the
public testimony will then be pro-
vided to the Board for review prior
to its consideration of expansion
of the Burnt River Rangeland Fire
Protection Association proposal
at its next
meeting.
If the proposal is ultimately ap-
proved by the Board, fire protec-
tion for the area added would be
provided by the Burnt River
Rangeland Fire Protection Asso-
ciation which is directed and
managed by local rangeland
owners. Associations prepare an-
nual budgets for review by the
Board. Operating funds for Asso-
ciation activities typically are de-
rived from annual dues assessed
by an association on its mem-
bers. Grants provided through
ODF may provide supplemental
funding.
Rangeland fire protection associ-
ations were authorized by the
Oregon Legislature in 1963 to fill
a gap in protection for portions of
the state that do not lie within a
rural fire protection district or an
ODF forest protection district.
There are currently twenty-four
active Rangeland Fire Protection
Associations operating in Ore-
gon.
To ensure the broadest range of

YOUR BIRTHDAY by Stella Wilder
Born today, you are not always what you
seem to be to others, and you would have it no
other way, for you are almost certain to dis-
cover that being able to surprise people simply
by using your character and natural tenden-
cies can prove a big advantage in all of life’s
endeavors. You are a strong and confident
individual, and yet others may think you are
easily controlled -- but woe to the one who
tries to control you, for you are never one to
give up your independence or autonomy!
THURSDAY, APRIL 28
TAURUS (April 20-May 20) -- You can
protect yourself from hidden dangers today
simply by doing what seems right to you.
Being safe doesn’t have to be difficult!
GEMINI (May 21-June 20) -- You’ve been
blessed with a different perspective, and now
you’re able to see things in a way that will
benefit you in a new and exciting way.
CANCER (June 21-July 22) -- What hap-
pens on your watch today is likely to be
remembered for some time -- but will it be for
the right reasons? You can ensure that it is.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) -- Your behind-the-
scenes maneuvering today can yield an unex-
pected result -- but take care that you’re not
stepping on someone’s toes.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) -- You’re not
about to take orders from someone who has
less experience than you -- but you can work
in tandem, surely, and offer valuable lessons.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) -- Another’s
motives may remain a mystery to you today,
no matter what you do to solve that particular
puzzle. It’s time to move on.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) -- You may be
letting someone take advantage of you for all
the wrong reasons. Today you can put your
foot down and reclaim your personal space.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) -- You
may be feeling certain regrets more sharply
TUESDAY, APRIL 26, 2022
than others, and those are the ones that
require your immediate attention today.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) -- The
positive and the negative may be spiraling
within you today, making it hard for you to see
the light at the end of the tunnel.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) -- You may
receive a boost from someone you don’t even
know today, but you’ll surely know it when it
happens. You’ll want to pick up the pace.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) -- You can
share a precious memory today with someone
who was a part of the original adventure -- if
only via long-distance communication.
ARIES (March 21-April 4) -- You want to
free yourself of certain restrictions today, but
they are in place for your own good and to
remove them can prove quite risky.
