“Movie: The Sisters Brothers”
From French filmmaker Jacques Audiard
(“Rust and Bone,” “Paris, 13th District”)
comes this 2018 drama about two gun-
slinging brothers (John C. Reilly, Joaquin
Phoenix) who chase a gold prospector and
his unsuspecting ally in 1850s Oregon. Jake
Gyllenhaal, Riz Ahmed, Allison Tolman and
Rebecca Root are also in the talented cast.

Autumn de Wilde made her feature film
directorial debut with this 2020 adapta-
tion of Jane Austen’s 1815 novel that stars
Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Queen’s Gambit”)
in the title role of Emma Woodhouse, a
headstrong young woman in Regency-era
England who can’t stop meddling in the
lives of those around her. Bill Nighy, Johnny
Flynn and Miranda Hart co-star.
Natalie Portman received her second best
actress Oscar nod for her affecting portrayal
of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in the
days before and after the assassination of her
husband. Originally conceived as an HBO
miniseries, this 2016 release also stars Peter
Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup and
John Hurt, in his final film released before
his death in early 2017.
Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively head the
beguiling cast of director Paul Feig’s well-re-
ceived 2018 black comedy about a widowed
single mom and vlogger (Kendrick) from a
small town who gets drawn into a mystery
after her wealthy and enigmatic best friend
(Lively) seems to vanish without a trace.
