“Movie: Judy”
The casting of Renée Zellweger in the lead
of a Judy Garland biopic initially raised
some Hollywood eyebrows, but her per-
formance in this 2019 adaptation of a hit
play silenced skeptics, as she netted a slew
of best actress trophies, including an Oscar.
Jessie Buckley, Finn Wittrock, Rufus Sewell
and Michael Gambon also star in the film,
which chronicles the last year of Garland’s
life.
“Movie: The Invisible Man”
Australian writer-director Leigh Whannell’s
thriller casts Elisabeth Moss (“The Hand-
maid’s Tale”) as Cecilia Kass, who flees an
abusive relationship with tech entrepreneur
Adrian Griffin (Oliver Jackson-Cohen)
after drugging him. While hiding out with
a childhood friend (Aldis Hodge), Cecilia
receives word that the troubled Adrian has
killed himself. In time, however, Cecilia be-
comes convinced her ex-lover has mastered
invisibility to destroy her life.
“Movie: Destroyer”
A virtually unrecognizable Nicole Kidman
gives an unsparing performance as former
undercover LAPD officer Erin Bell, who
takes brutal revenge on a gang years af-
ter one of her cases was blown in Karyn
Kusama’s 2018 neo-noir crime thriller. The
strong supporting cast includes Toby Keb-
