The seemingly casual reunion of three
friends at a remote repair shop masks a
hidden agenda fueled by the arrival of a
privileged yuppie in this 2021 comedy from
writer/director John Pollono (“Fight Your
Way Out,” “Stronger”). Jon Bernthal, Shea
Whigham, Ciara Bravo, Jordana Spiro and
Pollono head the cast.
“Freelancers” mentors Whitney Call and
Mallory Everton co-wrote and star in this
2021 comedy about two sisters who embark
on a cross-country road trip to rescue their
grandmother and her beloved dog from a
COVID outbreak at her nursing home. Ste-
phen Meek (who co-directed the film with
Everton), Julia Jolley and Anne Hansen are
also in the cast.
Robert De Niro took a break from serious
roles for this 2016 comedy from director
Dan Mazer (“The Exchange”), in which he
plays a lecherous former Army general who
tricks his uptight grandson (Zac Efron) into
getting away from his controlling bride-to-
be to join him on a spring break road trip
to Daytona Beach, Fla. Aubrey Plaza and
Zoey Deutch also star.
The sophomore round of this comedy
series catches up with Jules (Kat Dennings)
and pals Madison, Stella and Izzy (Brenda
Song, Shay Mitchell, Esther Povitsky) post-
pandemic, post-heartbreak and heading
toward 30 as Jules tries to keep the gang
together while they navigate work, love
and a deeper relationship with each of
themselves. (ORIGINAL)
