B
AKER CITY — The sound
echoes as you walk up
the front steps of Churchill
School.
Open the door and the
deep rhythm strengthens,
gaining volume until you find
the source — a gathering of
musicians joining in harmony
with different types of drums.
A community drum circle
is happening once a month
at Churchill School, 3451
Broadway St. It is held on the
first Saturday, and the next
session is Feb. 5, 4-6 p.m.
Art Roamers started the
drum circle last summer
when musicians gathered in
Court Plaza — right beside
the Art Roamers shop — to
play during the First Friday
art walk.
The circle will continue on
the first Saturday at Churchill
until the weather warms up
and it can move back down-
town.
Participation is free, and
all ages and levels of musical
expertise are welcome. Musi-

around the world.” In addi-
tion to the gallery in down-

Art Roamers provides some drums for the community drumming circle, and participants are also welcome to bring
their own to the monthly get-together.
