JAM NIGHTS AT THE ISON HOUSE
BAKER CITY — The Ison House Bed &
Brew, 1790 Washington Ave., is inviting mu-
sicians to two jam nights each week.
Wednesday is an acoustic jam, and Fri-
day is an “open” jam night. The Ison House
opens at 4 p.m. and co-owner Twila Lavery
says the jam “starts when you get here.”

EAGLE CAP EXTREME RETURNS TO
JOSEPH THIS WEEKEND
ENTERPRISE — After a year hiatus, the
Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Races return
to the Wallowa Mountains. The race starts
at noon Thursday, Jan. 20.
The second leg of the 31-mile and 22-
mile junior races are scheduled for noon,
Friday, Jan. 21, but race offi cials suggest
checking in with Race Central as the start
times of the second stages may be ad-
justed.
The 100-mile racers are estimated to fi n-
ish Friday morning at Ferguson Ridge while
the 31-mile and 22-mile race stage fi nishes
can be viewed late Thursday and Friday
afternoons. The 200-mile racers will fi nish

their course at Ferguson Ridge Saturday,
between early morning and afternoon.
The awards banquet is also suspended
due to COVID-19 concerns, but the ceremo-
ny will be livestreamed from Wallowa County
Fairgrounds’ Cloverleaf Hall on Saturday, Jan.

HURRICANE CREEK GRANGE
SPONSORS CHILI COOK-OFF JAN. 20
JOSEPH — A competitive chili cook-off is
being hosted by the Hurricane Creek Grange
to coincide with the conclusion of the 2022
Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race.
The cook-off is Saturday, Jan. 22, 9 a.m.-
3 p.m. at the grange, 92930 Airport Lane just
west of Joseph.
There is an entry fee of $10 each for the
contest, with a $50 cash fi rst prize and a sec-
ond prize of a basket fi lled by local vendors.
Those who come to enjoy the chili are
charged $5 for a bowl and some cornbread.
Dessert of pies also will be available. Whole
pies go for $15.
There also will be a local vendor market.
