OES Youth Orchestra presents winter concert

ENDLETON — The Oregon
East Symphony Youth
Orchestra will present its winter
concert on Thursday, Jan. 27,
at 7 p.m.
Admission is free and open
to the public. The concert will
take place at the Vert Audito-
rium, 480 SW Dorian Ave.
Masks are required for all
attendees.
The Preludes preparatory
orchestra will be performing
works titled “Sky Suite” and “G-
Force” and the main theme from
“Pirates of the Caribbean.” This
will be their fi rst concert under
the direction of Viet Block, OES
assistant concertmaster.
The OES Youth Orchestra
will follow with performances of
works by Brahms, Mendelssohn
and Mozart.

the growth of technique and
musical maturity in these bright
young students.”
Banks said these two groups
are smaller chamber orchestras
— Preludes has 12 members,
and the Youth Orchestra has 14.
“Our students are all mainly
from Umatilla County, and we
welcome student musicians from
all over Eastern Oregon,” he said.
This concert is possible
with support from the Uma-
tilla County Cultural Coalition,
Pendleton Rotary Club, Pendle-
ton Music Company and Banner
Bank Pendleton.
