BALLET II
This class for age 6-8 will
be taught by Debbie Friedman
on Wednesdays from Jan. 5
to Feb. 23, from 4-5 p.m. This
class is for young dancers
who have had some previous
training. Students will focus on
the traditional ballet essentials
— positions and movements
— barre, center and across
the fl oor with more focus on
proper technique and more
complex moving combinations.
Cost is $64 members, $96
nonmembers.
BALLET III
Debbie Friedman’s class for
ages 9 and older will meet on
Thursdays from Jan. 6 to Feb.
24, from 4-5 p.m. No previ-
ous experience is required.
Multi-level classes are suitable
for older children as all move-
ments and phrases can be
adapted. Students will focus
on basic ballet technique and
format, including barre, center
and “traveling” movements, as
well as fl exibility, strength and
proper technique. Cost is $64
members, $96 nonmembers.
INTRO TO CALLIGRAPHY
— EASY UNCIALS
Ginger Rembold leads this
calligraphy class from 6-8 p.m.
on Jan. 13 and Jan. 20. Geared
for adults, the two-session
class is an introduction to
basic calligraphy, focusing
on uncials, one of the oldest
and easiest styles of letter-
ing, with no upper and lower
case involved. In the fi rst class
students will be led through
a series of exercises to learn
letter formation. The second
class will also include making

Class cost is $30 members or
$45 nonmembers. There also
is a $5 supply fee.

BARN QUILT PAINTING
WORKSHOP
Cathy Treadway will lead
this one-day workshop to
create a quilt square made
from wood on Saturday, Jan.
15, from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. It is
for ages 12 and older. Partici-
pants will choose a quilt block
size — 2-feet square or 1-foot
square — that will be painted
for exterior display. All supplies
for the class are provided by
the instructor. There will be an
assortment of quilt block pat-
terns to choose from, or par-
ticipants can bring a favorite
design (check with the instruc-
tor ahead of time to see if it is a
good fi t for this class). Cost for
a 2x2 square is $100 members
or $150 nonmembers. Cost for
1x1 square is $93 members,
$139.50 nonmembers.
