HAPPENING NOW
BAKER CITY — The Christ-
mas at Crossroads Ornament
Expo is on now through Dec.
24 at Crossroads Carnegie Art
Center, 2020 Auburn Ave. The
center’s 12-foot Christmas tree
is decorated with handcrafted
ornaments.
More ornament entries are
welcome from artists who are 18
and older. To participate, stop by
the center or to go www.cross-
roads-arts.org. Submissions for
the Gift of Art show, which opens
Dec. 3, are also being accepted.
“We sure are looking forward
to fi lling our gallery space with
items full of holiday cheer!” said
Alyson Spiering, community art
director.
OUTDOOR BEER GARDEN
RETURNS TO HANDMADE
HOLIDAYS
LA GRANDE — Art Center
East will host the 13th annual
Handmade Holidays Mak-
ers Market on Nov. 19 and 20,
featuring more than 20 regional
artists and makers selling a
wide range of handmade goods.
Hours are 4-8 p.m. Friday and
9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday. ACE is
located at 1006 Penn Ave.
This year’s event will include
an outdoor beer garden from
Side A Brewing on Friday eve-
ning, along with food from Broth-
er Bear Cafe. On Saturday, Side
A will off er festive brunch drinks
while Brother Bear Cafe serves
up breakfast. ACE will close
the portion of Penn Avenue in
front of the building to create
space for the outdoor beer/food
garden. Loveland Funeral Chapel
will off er free, safe rides home
on Friday and Saturday.
According to a press release,
the outdoor component of Hand-
made Holidays Makers Market
was inspired by the outdoor mar-
kets popular in Europe during the
holiday season. The marchés de
Noël and Weihnachtsmarkte that
pop up in village and city streets
throughout Europe give commu-
nity members a place to gather
and celebrate while shopping
for holiday gifts made by local
craftspeople.
ACE classes will continue dur-
ing the weekend event. Find out

‘RECYCLED CHRISTMAS
WORKSHOP’ SET FOR
DEC. 2
BAKER CITY — Ginger
Rembold will teach “A Recycled
Christmas Workshop” on Thurs-
day, Dec. 2, from 6-8 p.m. at
Crossroads Carnegie Art Center,
2020 Auburn Ave. All ages
are welcome, although those
younger than 12 must accom-
pany a paid adult.
Participants will explore
creative ways to use a variety of
recycled plastics, metals, woods,
etc. to create a unique nativity
or perhaps a Santa, showman,
or elf. Bring some recyclables
to share and a creative mind.
Glue, adhesives, wire, etc. plus a
wealth of recycled materials will
be provided.
Cost is $16 for Crossroads
members, or $24 for nonmem-
bers. The supply fee is $5. To

frontman for Brewers Grade
Band, returns for a show in
Umatilla.
A seasoned vocalist and an
accomplished guitarist, Grooms
has been writing and perform-
ing country music through-
out the Pacifi c Northwest for
nearly 20 years. He will perform

5K IS NOV. 25
HERMISTON — Jump start
your holiday morning during the
Turkey Day 5K. An event for the
whole family, the race is Thurs-
day, Nov. 25, 9 a.m. at the Oxbow
Trail, off Northwest 11th Street
and West Elm Avenue Extension,
Hermiston.
Registration is $20 for adults
and $10 for youths. Proceeds will
benefi t Eastern Oregon Mission,
parent organization of Hermis-
ton’s Agape House. Money will
be used to provide support to
those in need in the region.
