MIXED MEDIUM David Oates headlines First Draft Writers’ Series Thousands of titles Unlimited # of sessions at ’ Go! staff 2400 Resort Street Baker City, OR 97814 P ENDLETON — David Oates is the featured writer at this months’ First Draft Writers’ Series, which is held on the third Thurs- day of each month at the Pendle- ton Center for the Arts. Attendance is free. This month’s session will again be held through Zoom, beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18. To receive the Zoom link, send an email to director@pendletonarts.org. The First Draft Writers’ Series brings authors and poets of note to the Pendleton (online) stage to share new work. Those attending hear from the featured author, as well as open mic readings by lo- cal, emerging writers. According to the art center’s website, the First Draft Writers’ Series “is focused on encourag- ing discussion around issues within the community, the region and beyond.” Each session is centered around a theme inspired by the featured writer’s work. Oates is the author of two books of poetry and four works of nonfi ction, including “Para- dise Wild: Reimagining American Nature” and “City Limits: Walking Portland’s Boundary.” His award- winning essays have appeared in Georgia Review, Creative Nonfi c- tion and Orion. Up to 10 people can sign up each month to share their work after the featured author and a quick question-and- answer session. Those who would like to participate in the open mic portion can send a note in the Zoom chat.
