The Search for 52”
Joshua Zeman (“Cropsey,” “Killer
Legends”) co-wrote, directed and appears
in this 2021 documentary that follows the
search for the forgotten “52 Hertz Whale,”
so nicknamed because its calls at 52 hertz
are at a frequency unrecognized by other
whales and thus it is believed it lived its
life in solitude.
Guy Guido (“Lovin’ Brooklyn,” “Physical
Attraction”) wrote and directed this 2019
documentary that hearkens back to the
time when Madonna was a struggling
New York City singer with the Breakfast
Club, her first band, in the days before she
landed her first solo record deal.

Danny Strong and Barry Levinson are
among the creative forces behind this
eight-part dramatic miniseries that takes
a 360-degree view as it explores the
beginning of the opioid crisis through
the perspectives of a doctor, patients,
pharmaceutical executives and sales reps
and law enforcement. Michael Keaton,
Rosario Dawson, Peter Sarsgaard, Kaitlyn
Dever and Will Poulter head the cast.

from 1977-83., this 2017 buddy comedy
movie stars Dax Shepard (who also directs)
and Michael Pena in the roles originated
by Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada, as
California Highway Patrol officer Jon
Baker and FBI undercover agent Frank
“Ponch” Poncherello. Isiah Whitlock Jr.,
Adam Brody and Kristen Bell (Shepard’s
wife) co-star in the film.
