“Diff ’rent Strokes”
This 1978-86 NBC/ABC sitcom follows
the adventures of Arnold and Willis Jackson
(Gary Coleman, Todd Bridges), two African
American boys from Harlem who are taken
in by Philip Drummond (Conrad Bain), a
rich white businessman and widower living
on Park Ave. Dana Plato, Charlotte Rae,
Nedra Volz and Mary Jo Catlett are also in
the cast.
“Good Times”
Esther Rolle brought her role of housekeep-
er Florida Evans with her to this 1974-79
“Maude” spinoff in which she stars as the
matriarch of a family living in the housing
projects of Chicago. Jimmie Walker, John
Amos, Ja’net DuBois, BernNadette Stanis,
Johnny Brown and future recording star
Janet Jackson are also in the cast.
“Movie: Something’s Gotta Give”
Diane Keaton had her best role in years
— and a nude scene — by reteaming
with writer-director Nancy Meyers (“Baby
Boom”) on this delightful 2003 romantic
comedy. The playwright mother (Keaton) of
a womanizer’s (Jack Nicholson) latest con-
quest (Amanda Peet) becomes his new love
target. When he has a medical crisis, the
much younger doctor (Keanu Reeves) also
falls for her.

“Movie: Only the Brave”
One of the most inexplicable box-office
failures of 2017, Joseph Kosinski’s biograph-
ical drama, adapted from a story in GQ, is
a heartbreaking yet uplifting tribute to the
Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite crew
of firefighters who gave their lives in 2013
while fighting the Yarnell Hill wildfire in
Arizona. Josh Brolin, Miles Teller and Jenni-
fer Connelly head a fine cast.
