The evaluated area consists of approximately 30,000 acres of National Forest System lands on the La Grande Ranger District. The project area is approximately 22 air miles southwest of La Grande, Oregon (Townships 5 & 6 South, Range 35 East). The planning area is within Union County and contains approximately 700 acres of the Blue Springs wildland urban interface area (WUI). Vegetation management strategies proposed in this project vary across two action alternatives. These alternatives include a com- bination of commercial harvest treatments, non-commercial veg- etation management, and prescribed burning. Other activities proposed include tethered logging and off-highway vehicle trail improvements. A site specific non-significant amendment to the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest Plan is proposed with this proj- ect to facilitate harvest on slopes over 30% using new harvesting equipment technology (tethered logging equipment). The La Grande Police De- partment has in its physical possession the unclaimed personal property described below. If you have any interest in any of that unclaimed prop- erty, you must file a claim with the La Grande Police Depart- ment within 30 days from the date of publication of this no- tice, or you will lose your inter- est in that property.
