ELGIN — The 74th Elgin Stam-
pede, July 7-10, offers four days of
rodeo action, parades and more.
The Stampede Grounds are
special — there’s not a bad seat in
the house and everyone gets up
close and personal with the action,
claims www.elginstampede.com.
The arena also boasts a larger-
than-life video replay screen so
every run can be watched again.
The 2021 Stampede kicks off
Wednesday at 6 p.m. with Family
Night — an all-kids rodeo where
contestants compete in everything
from stick-horse racing to steer rid-
ing. And it’s free admission, thanks
to Community Bank.
Thursday brings PRCA Xtreme
Bulls and barrel racing, beginning
at 7 p.m. Watch the best of the
cowboys take on the best of the
bulls. And in between bull riding
sections, watch amazing cowgirls
chase the cans.
PRCA action continues Friday
at 7 p.m. with “Tough Enough to
Wear Pink” night — a full PRCA
rodeo with all of your favorite rodeo
events.
Saturday starts off with an
all-kids parade (no registration re-
quired — just show up) at 10 a.m.
downtown, then the grand parade
at 4 p.m. The Stampede concludes
with a night of full rodeo excite-
ment that night at 7 p.m.
According to the Elgin Stam-
pede Facebook page, the Cowboy
Channel will be joining the show
this year, with all three Stampede
rodeos recorded and broadcast on
their station. This means you’ll
be able to access the recordings of
the 74th Elgin Stampede on the
Cowboy Channel and on the Cow-
boy Channel+ app on your mobile
devices. Plus, Becky with Columbia
River Circuit marketing will be at
each performance, streaming live
interviews with event winners.
Rodeo tickets are on sale online
at www.elginstampede.com/p/tick-
ets ($16, kids $11). Check out the
website for more details.
