6B — THE OBSERVER & BAKER CITY HERALD SATURDAY, JUNE 5, 2021 COFFEE BREAK Girlfriend maintains a ‘fan club’ on Facebook Other than this, we seem to have a healthy relationship with the occasional, normal hiccups. I would like to take it to the next level, but I can’t help wondering if the Face- book habit is a sign that she needs more than what our relationship is giving her. Please advise. — Hesi- tant in Ohio Dear Hesitant: Her Facebook habit may be a sign that your lady friend is insecure — or conceited — about her looks, which is why she encourages these “fans” by “heart- ing” their comments. Frankly, it’s sad that she needs more validation than she can get from one per- son, but that’s the woman you’re Dear Abby: I’ve been dating the same woman for more than two years. She is a beautiful lady who has quite a few male “fans” on Facebook, mostly from before we met. What bothers me, and I don’t understand why, is her habit of posting selfi es and then loving the comments from other men about her looks. We have discussed this many times, but she can’t seem to stop. FISHING REPORT MALHEUR RESERVOIR Fishing is great for rainbow trout from 10 to 20+ inches. This reservoir was recently stocked with tagged trophy trout, some are marked with reward tags. If you catch a tagged trout please report it here: MyODFW.com/tagteam. IT’S FREE FISHING WEEKEND IN OREGON Everyone can fi sh, clam and crab for free in Oregon on Saturday and Sunday, June 5-6. No fi shing licenses or tags (including a Combined Angling Tag, Columbia River Basin Endorsement or Two- Rod Validation) are required by Oregon residents or nonresidents to fi sh, crab or clam in Oregon on those dates. Although no licenses or tags are required these two days, all other fi shing regulations apply including closures, bag limits and size restrictions. With Oregon facing a serious drought this sum- mer, warmwater fi shing is a good choice for Free Fishing Weekend and throughout the summer. Oregon will have one more Free Fishing Weekend in 2021—the two days after Thanksgiving, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-27. involved with. If she were seeing these men in the real world, I would say you have a serious prob- lem. But she’s not, so it shouldn’t present a threat unless you make it one. Dear Abby: My grandson, who I haven’t seen in 10 years, is getting married to a girl I don’t know. My husband, “Hank,” and I are invited to the wedding. We live 1,000 miles away, so we have to book a fl ight, reserve a hotel and pay for all our meals. Hank has been waiting the last three months for a date for knee surgery. Most of the time, he’s in pain — especially when he walks. GRANDE RONDE RIVER The fl ows on the Grande Ronde have been good for boating but the fi shing has been slow. Look for fi sh in areas where fl ows are very slow like back eddies and river margins below structure. Bass fi shing should pick up in the next few weeks as fl ows drop and the water temperatures begin to rise. IMNAHA RIVER The fl ows are moderate and conducive to fi shing. The Imnaha will begin to see large hatches of salmon- fl ies and golden stonefl ies, which can make for some good trout fi shing. Anglers should be aware that some construction/utility work is occurring on the lower Imna- ha, and trucks will be on the road hauling equipment and materials. Anglers should use caution when traveling in the area. Spring chinook and bull trout will be present in the system and must be released unharmed. My daughter thinks we should postpone his surgery to attend the wedding. What do you think? — Debating in the South Dear Debating: Of course your daughter wants her father at her son’s wedding. That she would be disappointed — as would the both of you — is understandable. But does she really want him there limping, wincing and in constant pain? Remind her that it has taken three months to get this surgery calendared. Tell her you will be with them in spirit on their special day, but her father’s health must come fi rst. Then stick to your guns. Dear Abby: I work in a small anglers are starting to catch a few early kokanee. Wal- lowa Lake has been stocked and fi shing for trout is good. Spring is a good time to fi sh for lake trout as they’re active and can sometimes be found in the shallow areas. Methods typically involve good electronics, downriggers and sometimes jigging. WALLOWA COUNTY PONDS The early trout stocking for Marr Pond has been canceled through late June to accommodate improve- ments to accessibility. With the exception of Marr Pond, all stocked waterbodies have received at least the they’re fi rst stocking and fi shing should be good. Forest ponds are mostly accessible and some have been recently stocked. PHILLIPS RESERVOIR Due to extreme drought, Phillips Reservoir is just 17% full. Rainbow were stocked during May, which means fi shing should be quite good (more fi sh, smaller area) well into June. Please note that those look- ing to launch a boat should avoid the Union Creek Campground boat launch as the water level is far below the launch; please use the boat ramp near Mason Dam. 2021 E ASTERN O REGON L IVESTOCK S HOW Tickets available online AND at the gate www.easternoregonlivestockshow.com K IDS C ORRAL Carnival....3:00 pm- 9:00 pm Ed Miller Xtreme Bull Riding....6:30 pm Parade....2:00 pm Carnival....2:00 pm - 9:00 pm PRCA Rodeo & Horse Racing....4:00 pm 4-H & FFA Livestock Auction....8:00 am (Buyers Only) Carnival....1:00 pm - 9:00 pm PRCA Rodeo & Horse Racing....2:00 pm PRCA Rodeo & Horse Racing....1:30 pm weather AROUND OREGON AND THE REGION Astoria Longview 48/58 Kennewick 48/60 St. Helens 48/63 46/69 49/72 50/66 43/64 Condon SUN MON TUE WED Mainly clear and chilly Abundant sunshine Partly sunny Partly sunny and pleasant Mostly cloudy 74 40 75 40 71 39 Eugene 10 10 9 43/68 72 42 72 42 71 44 10 10 9 Comfort Index™ 10 Enterprise 10 35 66 34 Comfort Index™ 10 69 38 10 10 9 TEMPERATURES Baker City La Grande Elgin NATION (for the 48 contiguous states) High Thursday Low Thursday High: 120° Low: 29° Wettest: 6.25” 91° 50° 92° 63° 94° 55° PRECIPITATION (inches) Thursday Trace Month to date Trace Normal month to date 0.15 Year to date 2.23 Normal year to date 4.68 0.00 0.00 0.19 5.90 7.99 0.00 0.00 0.22 14.21 12.14 AGRICULTURAL INFO. With lower expected fl ows this year the river should fi sh well throughout the spring. The Wallowa has very good caddis and golden stone hatches that last through June and can spur some very good fi shing. Look for fi sh to pull up close to the banks to escape faster fl owing water. Baker City offi ce of 15 people. The person next to me is diabetic and wears a beeper that goes off all day long. Am I supposed to endure this an- noying sound even though she can put it on vibrate? — Disturbed in Texas Dear Disturbed: No, you are not. Ask your co-worker if putting her beeper on vibrate would work for her, because the sound distracts you. If she’s willing to do that, your problem is solved. However, if she isn’t, then it may be time to discuss this with your supervisor or employer because it may be pos- sible to relocate your workstation to another area.
