Textiles, painting, drawing and a Yart Sale
■ First Friday art shows open May 6 in Baker City
BAKER CITY — Touring galler-
ies in Baker City this Friday will
reveal a variety of shows and the
annual Yart Sale.
CROSSROADS CARNEGIE
ART CENTER
Crossroads, 2020 Auburn Ave.,
will feature Nancy Pobanz, artist-
in-residence at Rimrock Draw
Rockshelter, an archaelogical dig in
Southeastern Oregon.
Her show, titled “Earth to Easel,”
opens Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
After 5 p.m., please enter
through the Second Street door.
Pobanz worked in collaboration
with archaeologist Patrick O’Grady
and the UO Museum of Natural
and Cultural History. Using her
own pigments gathered and cre-
ated from soils gathered all across
southeast Oregon she is able to
transform the earth to her easel
and bring to life her blind contour
drawings.
Paired alongside the painstaking
process of excavation, Pobanz will
also present a small body of work
in relation to the pandemic and the
Holiday Farm forest fi re that took
place near her home.
First Friday will include a
drawing for a $25 gift certifi cate
to Delicioso Mexican Restaurant.
The show is sponsored by Scrivner
Painting.
WHITE HOUSE
For May, White House Art &
Design, 1829 Main St., will feature
renowned local artist Grace Ann
Eriksmoen.
An artist reception is planned for
4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

will be featured at Royal Artisan.
YART SALE
The annual Yart Sale is back
— think of it as an art yard sale
where you can fi nd local work
priced at $40 or less.
The Yart Sale will be at Churchill
School, 3451 Broadway St.
Artists can have up to 10 pieces
in the sale. The show opens Friday
from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. For the rest
of May, patrons can view the show
and sale by appointment by calling

THE CHEESE FAIRY
The Cheese Fairy, 1937 Main St.,
will be open until 6 p.m. on First
Friday and features several artists.
