The event, canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held via Zoom Tuesday, March 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Hosting an event centered on food over video conferencing is chal- lenging, so registrants are invited to make and enjoy an appetizer at the beginning of the event and to share the recipe with the other participants. After the virtual happy hour, three speakers will address their corner of the Wallowa County food world: Kristy Athens of Genuine Wallowa County/Wallowa County Provisions, Patrick Thiel of Prairie Creek Farms and Jessica Espinoza of the Community Connection Food Bank. Participants will then move into break-out sessions to discuss topics of interest related to the challenges of food systems in a rural area and the successes and obstacles of securing food during a pandemic. Funding for the event and micro- grants to local organizations is from The Oregon Food Bank and was secured by Wallowa County OSU Extension and St. Patrick Episcopal Church. All registrants will be eligible for door prizes. Registration is avail- able at tinyurl.com/WCFEAST. For more information, email caitlin. rushlow@gmail.com.
