OF ‘MANHUNT: DEADLY GAMES’ ON CBS
Are you surprised that “Manhunt: Deadly
Games” is getting a CBS broadcast run after
debuting On Demand on the Spectrum cable
system?
I didn’t know it was going to be CBS specifically,
but I did know when we did it that it was going to
have some sort of secondary outlet at some point,
whether a streaming service or a network. I’m so
pleased, actually, that it’s CBS; I think that’s an
appropriate and great home for it, but also, I’m
excited for more people to be able to see it play
out.
Did you know of Clint Eastwood’s movie
“Richard Jewell,” which also was a fact-
inspired dramatization of the 1996 Olympic
bombing in Atlanta, while you were making
“Manhunt”?
It was right around the time they came to me
about this project that I heard rumblings that the
movie seemed like it was going to get up and
running. And I had thought it seemed likely the
movie would come out before us, because he’s just the fastest filmmaker on the planet. Everyone
else thought, “No, definitely not” – and, of course, it did. And I’m a big fan of Clint Eastwood and
everybody in that film, but I think this is a story that is well served by more time to tell it.

How do you view your “Manhunt” character, the late reporter Kathy Scruggs?
It’s so easy to vilify a person later, and certainly the press, but she was a really good reporter who
was given an inside scoop by a very reliable source ... on a story that added up. My job as an
actor is always to look at my character from the inside, without judgment. But the moment she was
seen and validated and had this incredible story, I think she lost sight of the bigger picture and was
like an addict looking to maintain that high.
