“Poldark”
“Alias”
Amazon streams all five seasons of this
2001-06 ABC action series, which was
created by J.J. Abrams and stars Jennifer
Garner as Sydney Bristow, recruited out of
college to be an international spy before
becoming a double agent for the CIA. The
strong cast also includes Victor Garber,
Ron Rifkin, Michael Vartan, Bradley
Cooper and Carl Lumbly.
Originally airing on BBC One in the U.K.
before being broadcast in the states on
PBS, this 2015-19 British historical drama
stars Aidan Turner in the lead role of
Captain Ross Vennor Poldark, who returns
home to England in 1783 from three years
fighting in the American Revolution to
find his father has died, his estate is in
ruins and his sweetheart is engaged to his
cousin. Eleanor Tomlinson, Jack Farthing
and Beatie Edney also star in this series, all
five seasons of which are available here.
“The Lucy Show”
Five years removed from the trailblazing
success of “I Love Lucy,” Lucille Ball
returned to CBS in this 1962-68 sitcom
in which she starred as a woman left a
substantial trust fund by her late husband
and the bank manager (Gale Gordon)
annoyed by the harebrained schemes for
which she used the money. The series also
reunited Ball with “I Love Lucy” co-star
Vivian Vance.

73 NBC Western series about the wealthy
Cartwright family of Virginia City, Nev.,
