Lia McHugh and Richard Armitage are also in the cast. “The Story of Soaps” “The Happy Days of Garry Marshall” Writer-producer-director Garry Marshall, who died at age 81 in 2016, is fondly remembered by family and friends in this two-hour ABC special, which celebrates Marshall’s remarkable career as the creator behind such pop-culture TV hits as “Happy Days,” “Laverne & Shirley” and “Mork & Mindy,” as well as such movie blockbusters as “Pretty Woman” and “The Princess Diaries.” There currently are only four network daytime dramas on TV, but this once- thriving genre broke new ground in serialized storytelling that propels modern “binge-worthy” dramas. That proud soap legacy is celebrated in this two-hour ABC special, which features archival commentary from such soap pioneers as Agnes Nixon and newer interviews with actors including Jon Hamm, Susan Lucci, Alec Baldwin, Carol Burnett and Bryan Cranston, among others. “Movie: We Are Freestyle Love Supreme” Long before attaining international acclaim in “Hamilton,” Lin-Manuel Miranda was in a hip-hop improvisational group called Freestyle Love Supreme along with director Thomas Kail and performers Christopher Jackson and Anthony Veneziale. For this documentary, filmmaker Andrew Fried began chronicling their journey in 2005 and then their reunion 14 years later in a series of shows in New York that led to a triumphant run on Broadway.
