Malcolm Phinny’s “Prairie Sunset” Artists invited to submit work for September’s Art at the Crossroads By Lisa Britton For EO Media Group BAKER CITY — Although no one is quite sure how First Friday will look in the coming months, plans are still in the works for the 22nd annual Art at the Crossroads open regional show in September in Baker City. Artwork will be accepted Tues- day, Sept. 1, between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The show will open on Friday, Sept. 4. The art show is open to profes- sional and amateur artists age 18 and older. Each artist may submit a total of three works not previously shown at a Crossroads open show. Submitted works must be of original design. Art that is manu- factured or imported, reproductions made from kits or done under the supervision of an instructor is not eligible. The entry free is $20 for Cross- roads members, and nonmembers pay $25. This year’s judge is Malcolm Phinney (his work “Prairie Sunset” is featured above). Phinney is a painter and sculptor who lives in Wallowa County. He and his wife, Tami, own and operate the Phinney Gallery of Fine Art in Joseph. “A representational artist is very fortunate to live where the land is so diverse with mountains, canyons, deep forests and open prairies,” Phinney said. “This place is a painter’s paradise.” The show will be up from Sept. 4 to Sept. 28.
