February Dance Tricks and Dips Instructor: Luke Coomer Date/Time: Saturday, February 22, 2:00-4:00pm Upstairs Dance Studio Cost: $20.00 per couple member/$30.00 per couple non- member Minimum: 3 Couples Maximum: 8-10 couples Dress Code: Comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes. Jeans and comfortable are ideal, but not required. Ages: 14 and above—All students under 18 there will a parental waiver to participate in the class. All couples or parents will sign a waiver of liability. Course Description: In this workshop, we will learn tricks and dips to add some serious “wow” factor to your dance! We will learn the back fl ip, fl oor spin, Princess dip and more! This workshop will focus on learning to safely incorporate dips and tricks into social dancing. We will learn a variety of aerials, dips, and tricks, as well as how to use them on the dance fl oor. Parental consent will be required for participants under 18. Be sure to sign up with a Partner. I have been dancing regularly for years in both casual and competition settings. I was the President of the Oregon State University Country Western Dance Club, hosting dances every other week and performing at local event, even the State Fair! March Classes Adult Wheel Throwing for Beginners – Series 1 Beginning Abstract Painting Sleeping Beauty Pre-Ballet Workshop Instructor: Debbie Penning Wednesday Evenings: Series 1: March 4, 5:30–8:30pm; March 11, 6:00–8:00pm; March 18, 6:00–7:30pm Supplies: 8-piece pottery tool kit (Amazon has for $9 or Copy, Ship and Mail may carry also) Age Requirements: 16 and up Minimum number of Students: 2 Maximum number of students: 5 Course cost per series: $45 members/$67.50 non-members Supply Fee: $10 covers clay and fi ring charges Course Description: Students will learn the fundamental steps to making bowls on the pottery wheel. Class 1 – Clay wedging, centering and throwing. Class 2 – trimming. Class 3 – glazing. Students must attend each class in order to have pieces to work on in subsequent classes. Complete only Series 1 or continue on with Series 2 to cement skills and gain confi dence in order to practice wheel throwing independently. Bring a friend and chat and sip your way through a step by step abstract painting from start to fi nish. Knowing where to start can be hard. Relax knowing that with little or no experience you can paint an interesting piece of art to brighten up your home décor. • Learn techniques such as wet in wet painting, dry brushing, color washes and more. • Have fun in a relaxing environment. • Explore color and different types of paints and tools. • Discover new ways to make marks. Each day dancers will learn basic movement concepts and practice basic ballet technique. Each day dancers will learn basic movement concepts and practice basic ballet technique. Each class will include a warm up, creative dance exploration activities as well as movement activities to practice dance skills. Dancers will also learn a dance to music from Sleeping Beauty. During the end of the last class, dancers will present to family and friends concepts they have learned as well as their Sleeping Beauty dance! Ballet slippers recommended.
