Ongoing Classes – Join at anytime! Mondays Open Painting and Drawing Studio Instructor: No instructor – independent work time! Start date: Mondays March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 April 6, 13, 20, 27 May 4, 11, 18, 25 Time: 10:00am-2:00pm Location: Upstairs Studio Cost: $5.00 a month for Crossroads members The Upstairs studio is open to all members of Crossroads who would like to come and work on 2-D projects. Bring lunch and join in friendship and fun of independent artists working on their own creative pursuits. Come and join anytime! Crossroads Hours: Monday – Saturday 10:00am – 5:00pm Tuesdays Tuesdays Exploring Oil Painting Open Pottery Studio Instructor: Amy VanGaasbeck Date/Time: Tuesdays – 5:30-7:30pm March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 April 7, 14, 21, 28 May 5, 12, 19, 26 Cost: $16 a session (members), $24.00 a session (non-member) Buy 4 sessions and get the 5th Session free! Ages: 15 to adult Supply list: At Crossroads Course Description: This class will teach beginning students how to paint with oils, and help more advanced students refi ne their skills. We will learn basic techniques, composition, and color theory. Students will learn to create original paintings, using objects from life and/or photographic reference. Our focus will be centered more on realism, rather than abstract. Each student will work at his own pace, and will receive individual instruction as needed. Some objects will be available for use and inspiration in painting a still life; however, students are encouraged to bring their own objects and reference photos. INSTRUCTOR: Amy Van Gaasbeckhas been a local success story by taking a hobby and making it into a successful art business. With a paid membership, potters can purchase a pottery pass and use the Crossroads Pottery Studio anytime we are open Monday thru Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, and Tuesday Open Pottery Studio! Tuesday Open Pottery Studio is a free evening time for potters to come and work together from 5:30 to 8:30pm. This open studio time is for experienced potters or members that have taken a class in pottery. All new pottery pass holders must be trained (approximately 30 minute orientation) in the studio rules and usage before working independently. A member of the Crossroads Pottery Committee is onsite on Tuesday evenings to answer questions if needed. Pottery Passes can be purchased at the front counter during business hours for $5.00 for a day, $20.00 for a month or $30.00 for a quarter. Wednesdays Learn to Love Watercolor & Pastels Instructor: Rebecca “Becky” Mancino Litke Start date: Wednesday evenings March 4, 11, 18, 25 April 1, 8, 15, 22 May 6, 13, 20, 27 Time: 2 Sessions available 3:00–5:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm. Come to one or join both. Each session is considered a separate class. Minimum number of students: 5 Adults and Teens Costs: $16 per session – members, $24 non-members Class Description: I will discuss what elements to put in a painting, what to leave out, how to use photos as a reference, how to position subject matter on painting paper surface for the best visual impact and how to pick the proper size paper for the subject matter depicted. I will discuss outlets for students to sell art, including local business, art in parks, and the internet and of course, local galleries. Also will discuss how to determine which pieces of art they produce have the best appeal to a large audience, therefore worth the investment to reproduce on note cards and prints. Becky has studied under several well known artists and instructors and is an active artist herself. She has been instructing watercolor classes at Crossroads for many years. 3
