Baker boys place first at home invitational meet By Gerry Steele gsteele@bakercityherald.com Led by senior Kale Cassidy’s fi rst-place fi nish in the individual standings, the Baker boys ran away with the team title at the Baker Invitational cross-country meet Friday at Quail Ridge Golf Course. Baker won the team crown with 39 points, 19 better than second-place Burns. Cassidy earned the individual title with a time of 16:53.24, almost four seconds faster than Burns’ JP Friedrichsen. Three other Bulldogs — John Niehaus, Lucas Stearns and Jake Cuzick — fi nished in the top 10. Stearns placed 9th with a time of 17:43.40, one place ahead of Cuzick at 17:47.40. The Baker girls tied Pendleton for second in the team standings with 78 points. Burns won the girls team crown with 28 points. Baker’s top individual fi nisher was Sydney Keller, placing third in a time of 21:01.72. Corah Downing fi nished seventh in a time of 21:36.43. Baker travels to Ontario Thursday to com- pete in the Crosby Invitational. S.
