The Bulldogs then scored the fi rst three times they touched the ball in the second half. Gauge Bloomer started the scoring with a 21-yard TD run with 6:16 left in the third period. Bloomer fi nished with 70 yards on nine carries. Myer then found Flanagan on a 45-yard scoring aerial. Rushton’s pass to Long after a bad PAT snap gave Baker a 35-0 edge. The defense then added a score when Alex Hammans intercepted an Ontario pass and scooted 48 yards for the score. “I thought our offensive line did a great job,” Ramos said. “We had some mismatches outside and our receivers — Flanagan and Long — made some great plays.” Flanagan had four catches for 90 yards, and Long two for 70. Baker will play its fi rst game of the season in Bulldog Memorial Stadium Friday when the Bulldogs host La Grande (4-0, 1-0) at 7 p.m. “La Grande is loaded. They have just about everybody back,” Ramos said. “We have to stop the run, and their quarterback is dan- gerous. Our defense should keep us in the game. It should be a great game.” Baker 7 14 20 0 — 41 Ontario 0 0 0 6 — 6 B — Gambleton 14 pass from Myer (Rushton kick) B — Myer 11 run (Rushton kick) B — Flanagan 19 pass from Myer (Rushton kick) B — Bloomer 21 run (Run failed) B — Flanagan 45 pass from Myer (Long pass from Rushton) B — Hammans 48 interception return (Kick failed) O — Larson 15 pass from Teramura (Kick failed) EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL Mountaineers falter late in loss to Montana-Western The (La Grande) Observer Jon Jund threw four touchdown passes and ran for another, and No. 19 Montana Western scored the game’s fi nal 28 points on the way to a 49-13 win over Eastern Oregon University Saturday in Frontier Conference play in Dillon, Montana. The blowout loss halted what has been a trend of close matchups in the series. Entering Saturday, six of the previous seven games had been decided by fewer than 10 points. UMW’s 36-point victory, however, was the most lopsided since EOU earned a 54-13 victory in Dillon during the 2011 season. EOU, which never led, did get within a touchdown early in the third quarter. Kai Quinn found Phoenix Millhollen for a 27-yard score to make it 21-13 just 89 seconds into the second half and cap a quick fi ve-play, 75-yard drive. It was all Bulldogs after that. Jund, who threw TD passes to four different players, connected with Nate Simkins, Jamison Hermanson and Chayce Mor- gan on passess of 11, 45 and 5 yards, respectively, to put Western ahead 42- 13, and Joe Caicedo capped the scoring with an 86-yard interception return for a score with 11:20 to play in the game. Western gashed the EOU defense to the tune of 575 yards, 407 of which came through the air. Jund was 22-for- 30 for 378 yards. He also rushed for 31 yards as the Bulldogs totaled 168 on the ground as a team. Trey Mounts had six catches for 154 yards. Quinn threw for 248 yards for EOU and rushed for 45 but was just 15-for- 45 passing and was intercepted twice. He had more than half of Eastern’s yardage on the ground, as the Moun- taineers accounted for just 79 yards rushing. Eastern has been held under 100 yards in all four of its losses. Saige Wilkerson had two catches for 104 yards to lead the receiving corps. The Mountaineers did force four UMW turnovers but failed to turn them into points. EOU (1-4 overall, 1-3 Frontier) has a bye before hosting MSU-Northern Oct. 12 for homecoming. HERE’S HOW TO PLAY: Select the winning teams from this weekend’s college & NFL Games! (AP) — Dairon Asprilla converted a penalty kick in the 85th minute to give Portland a contentious 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City on Sunday night, keeping the Timbers in line for a playoff spot. Asprilla was given the opportunity for his fi rst goal after Ilie Sanchez fouled Jeremy Ebobisse in the penalty area. The point moved Portland (13-13-7) one point up on Dallas and two on San Jose, which is a point out of playoff position, with one game to play. San Jose plays at Portland next Sunday.
