Trouble has broken out again in
New York's Chinatown. A gun fight
in which one man was killed and
three others were wounded ended a
10-year truce between the On LegoD
and the Hip Sing Tongs. Less than
a week later another similar shoot
ing affray was reported in the dis
trict.
Scores of uniformed police
men are patrolling it now. Above

How to Te«t Instrument«
for Ground« and Shorts
By H. W. DAVIS
Having trouble with my outfit at first
and having nothing to test with for
grounds or ¿borts I made a simple
testing set In the following manner:
I took an old dry cell too woak to
light the filament in my peanut tube
and wound about twenty turns of wire
around it connecting in series with the
cell. I then made a neatly fitting box
with one end open for the wires to
the leads. I laid this on a fiat surface
so that it stood in a position of the
length oust nnd west and placed n
pocket compass on the box directly
over the wire.
I found this a first-class testing set
nnd discovered a short In my con
densers gt Once. I am having very
good success with this outfit using
only one peanut tube and have picked(
up signals from New York to Florida
and Loe Angeles with it.—Radio Di

Adjusting Earpieces
After using a pair of gpcelvers for
several months, It often happens that
one receiver works a little louder than
the other. This may be<ue to one ear
piece- losing magnetism.
In most
cases, simply tightening the cap on the
receiver will help a great deal,
this does not help, unscrew the
and turn the diaphragm over on
other side and replace the earcap.
